The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on August 11 to 6:00am on August 12, we received 383 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 78
  • East: 74
  • Midtown: 61  
  • North: 60
  • South: 44
  • West: 57
  • Other: 9

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Tuesday, August 11:

Priority calls only from 6:34am to 8:25pm due to calls for service. 

Priority calls only from 10:24am to 4:28pm due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 9:51pm to 1:25am due to calls for service. 

  •  3:51am – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 30-year-old male subject (not on scene when officers arrived). Probable cause developed to charge/arrest the subject, who remains at-large. 
  • 9:22am – North – Adult Arrested Person: DOC requested MPD locate/arrest a client (40-year-old male) of theirs who was violating the terms of their supervision. The subject was located, arrested, and conveyed to jail.  
  • 9:50am – North – Adult Arrested Person: A 33-year-old male subject believed that the victim side-swiped his vehicle. When both drivers/vehicles were stopped at a traffic light, the subject exited their vehicle and hit the other driver/victim while they were in their vehicle. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and felony battery.
  • 3:57pm – West – Death Investigation: A 67-year-old male subject was reported missing over the weekend. Officers attempted to locate/contact the subject without success.  Investigation continued. The residence of the subject was entered and found to be in disarray (hoarding situation). The subject was not located but a suicide note was located. Additional resources responded (UAS, Mounted Patrol). Areas canvassed. The subject was located deceased, from an apparent gunshot wound, in a grassy/overgrown area. Nothing suspicious identified. 
  • 8:04pm – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to the 400 block of State Street for a 911 disconnect.  A witness reported that a 32-year-old female subject was waiving around a taser yelling “who wants it". The subject was contacted and found to be in possession of a taser. The subject was arrested for possession of an electric weapon and disorderly conduct while armed.
  • 9:52pm – North – Weapons Offense: Officers responded to the area of North St/E. Washington Ave for a report of shots fired. It was reported that a bus had been shot at. No injuries reported. Video footage showed several juveniles shouting at another juvenile before exiting the bus. The bus was then struck by gunfire several times. Casings located. Unable to locate/contact any of the involved parties at this time. Investigation continuing.  
  • 11:41pm – East – Weapons Offense: Officers responded to a motel on East Towne Blvd for a report of subjects fighting with knives.  A gun was also mentioned as being involved. Officers arrived on scene and contacted a subject (54-year-old male) matching one of the descriptions provided and a 23-year-old female subject with him. Both subjects were uncooperative with officers. The male subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and obstruction. The female subject was arrested for possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and felony bail jumping. No knives were located on either of them. A 41-year-old male subject, also involved, was located/detained nearby. He was in possession of a knife. He was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed, felon in possession of a concealed weapon, and a probation hold.
