The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on August 12 to 6:00am on August 13, we received 376 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 62
  • East: 81
  • Midtown: 64 
  • North: 69
  • South: 44
  • West: 52
  • Other: 4

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Wednesday, August 12:

Priority calls only from 1:06pm to 2:57pm due to calls for service. 

  • 8:46am – West – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject was contacted and transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. The subject had to be sedated due to their intoxication level and their attempts to bite an officer. Final outcome pending. Officers have disengaged for now.  
  • 10:33am – East – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a business reference a trespassing complaint involving a 29-year-old male subject who is a repeat offender for retail theft. The subject was not present when officers arrived. The subject was located nearby walking out of another business with merchandise that had just been stolen. The subject was arrested for retail theft and a probation warrant.  
  • 1:56pm – South – Disturbance: Caller reported hearing someone yelling for help. Officers arrived and identified a disturbance took place involving a 34-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic simple battery.
  • 6:41pm – North – Runaway Juvenile: A 16-year-old male subject was reported as a runaway. Family members have been in contact with the juvenile, but he has refused to come home. Attempt to locate aired. The juvenile was listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases.
  • 10:47pm – Midtown – Intoxicated Driver: Officers responded to a hit-and-run. The driver (18-year-old female) was identified, contacted, and found to be impaired. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense) and hit-and-run.

Thursday, August 13:

  • 3:10am – Central – Disturbance:  Officers responded to a disturbance on State St/W. Gorham St. An 18-year-old male subject took a pair of headphones from the victim. Another subject/victim attempted to engage the subject to get the headphones back. Another 18-year-old male subject got involved in what ended up being a physical altercation. The subject/victim sustained substantial injuries. Both 18-year-olds were arrested/charged: disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property, theft, substantial battery (party to a crime).
