The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

From 6:00am on August 13 to 6:00am on August 14, we received 361 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

Notable calls

Thursday, August 13:

Priority calls only from 11:30am to 3:32pm due to calls for service.

• 11:10am - Central –Disturbance: The 31-year-old male suspect threw a bottle at a city streets worker who disrupted his sleep. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
• 12:04pm - Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to the intersection of N Blount St and E Dayton St where the 28-year-old female suspect was physically assaulting the victim. The suspect was placed into protective custody and transported to a hospital. 
• 2:43pm - Central – OMVWI: An officer conducted a traffic stop and discovered that the 65-year-old male driver had a revoked DL, was required to have an ignition interlock device, and was on parole for 10th offense OMVWI. The suspect was arrested and charged with operating after revoked, failure to install IID and a parole violation.
• 4:57pm - Midtown – Information: Officers responded to a hospital to assist Journey Mental Health with an emergency detention.
• 5:13pm - North – Disturbance: Officers responded to a parking lot where the 43-year-old female suspect was armed with a baseball bat, attempting to strike the victim. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct while armed and attempted battery while armed.
• 6:18pm - South – Armed Robbery: The victim reported she was in a parking lot when the 26-year-old male suspect and 33-year-old female suspect confronted her and stole her phone. The victim reported that she heard a gun slide being racked and believed the male suspect had a handgun in his pants. Officers searched the suspects' residence and located a firearm and the victim's phone. The male suspect was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm and disorderly conduct while armed. The female suspect was cited for theft.
• 9:50pm - Midtown – Armed Robbery:  A caller to dispatch reported that an unidentified male suspect entered a gas station with a firearm and stole money from the register. Suspect is at large. Investigation continuing.
• 10:12pm - Central – Weapons Offense: Three victims were walking on Lake Street together when the unidentified male suspect biked slowly past them and then pepper sprayed them. Officers were unable to locate the suspect. Investigation continuing.
• 10:21pm - Central – Disturbance: A victim reported that the 57-year-old male suspect threw a bottle at her. The suspect was arrested and charged with threats to LE, disorderly conduct while armed, throwing stones or missiles, and depositing rubbish.
• 11:20pm - Central – Arson: Officers responded to Peace Park in the 400 block of State St where they observed a purse on fire. Officers put out the fire. Witnesses were unwilling to provide information and no one claimed the purse. Investigation continuing.

Friday, August 14:

• 12:00 midnight - Midtown – Check Person/OMVWI: A family member reported that a 23-year-old man had made homicidal and suicidal statements in text messages. The man was not located at that time. At 4:50am an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driving at excessive speeds on the beltline and determined that the driver/suspect was the same man from the previous check person call. The 23-year-old suspect was arrested on several charges of bail jumping and cited for OWI 1st. Journey Mental Health evaluated the suspect at the jail due to the suicidal and homicidal statements.
• 2:28am - Central – Drug Incident: A woman approached an officer on patrol on State Street and reported that the 27-year-old male suspect had asked her to hold a bag of psilocybin mushrooms for her while he shopped. The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of psilocybin, resisting and disorderly conduct.
