The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on August 17 to 6:00am on August 18, we received 466 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 79
  • East: 99
  • Midtown: 77
  • North: 85
  • South: 40
  • West: 81
  • Other: 5

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the city. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Monday, August 17:

Priority calls only from 8:09am to 8:53am, 10:48a to 12:21pm, and from 4:17pm to 8:01pm due to calls for service.

  • 5:15am - North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence where the 22-year-old male suspect struck the victim during an argument. The suspect was arrested and charged with domestic disorderly conduct and battery. (This was a late call that did not make the previous 24-hour cycle.)
  • 5:24am - North – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence where a 45-year-old man was found deceased. Nothing suspicious on scene. (This was a late call that did not make the previous 24-hour cycle.)
  • 6:11am - North – Trespass: Officers responded to an apartment building where a caller reported a banned subject was present. Upon arrival, the caller did not allow the officers access to the building and did not wish to make contact. Officers disengaged.
  • 8:47am - Central – Check Person: Officers assisted Journey Mental Health with a Chapter 51 return.
  • 10:44am - Central – Disturbance: Officers were dispatched to a store for a dispute between the store owner and a customer over a transaction. No charges were substantiated.
  • 10:48am - Midtown – Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance stemming from ongoing issues between neighbors. A man involved in the disturbance was under a Chapter 51 commitment and Journey Mental Health determined he would be placed into protective custody and transported to a hospital. Officers assisted with the process before disengaging.
  • 2:24pm - Midtown – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence where a 43-year-old woman was found deceased. Nothing suspicious on scene.
  • 4:34pm - South – OMVWI: Officers responded to the beltline at Fish Hatchery Rd for a crash. The 33-year-old male driver/suspect was arrested and charged with OWI 5th.
  • 4:54pm - West – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence where the 40-year-old male suspect and victim were arguing. The suspect was arrested and charged with domestic disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and threats to LE.
  • 10:13pm - Midtown – Disturbance:  Officers responded to a parking lot where the 39-year-old male suspect was armed with a knife, damaging cars and threatening people. The suspect was arrested and charged with 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety, disorderly conduct while armed, damage to property, and resisting.

Tuesday, August 18:

  • 3:33am - East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence where the 69-year-old male suspect threw a phone at the victim, causing an injury, and then attempted to prevent her from calling 911. The suspect was arrested and charged with domestic disorderly conduct, battery of an elder, and intimidation of a victim.
