The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Number of calls
From 6:00am on August 19 to 6:00am on August 20, we received 433 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 85
- East: 112
- Midtown: 54
- North: 67
- South: 48
- West: 54
- Other: 13
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the city. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Wednesday, August 19:
Priority calls only from 7:14am to 12:00 noon, from 2:15pm to 4:17pm, and from 4:46pm to 12:00 midnight due to calls for service.
- 6:45am - North – Domestic Disturbance: The victim reported that the 39-year-old male suspect broke into her residence and armed himself with a knife. The victim left the residence and the suspect remained alone in the home. Officers responded with additional resources including SWAT, K9, crisis negotiators, as well as Sun Prairie PD. The suspect eventually exited the home and was taken into custody and charged with domestic disorderly conduct while armed, intimidation of a victim, and burglary.
- 9:46am - Midtown – Check Person: Officers made contact with a man who was making suicidal statements and walking into traffic. Officers placed the man into protective custody. Journey Mental Health supported an emergency detention.
- 12:13pm - North – Theft from Auto: The victim reported that the 25-year-old male suspect stole items from his vehicle. The suspect was arrested and began making suicidal statements. Officers consulted with Journey Mental Health who supported an emergency detention. The suspect was transported to a hospital.
- 12:57pm - East – Adult Arrested Person: Probation and Parole requested that officers take into custody a 34-year-old female suspect. The suspect was taken into custody without incident and conveyed to jail.
- 5:42pm - Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to James Madison Park where the 33-year-old male suspect was yelling about a gun. The suspect was carrying a bottle of nitrous oxide. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and possession of nitrous oxide.
Thursday, August 20:
- 12:33am - Central – Trespass: Officers responded to the 100 block of State St where a group of people was camping. The 38-year-old male suspect refused to leave and would not cooperate with officers. The suspect was arrested and charged with resisting, disorderly conduct, possession of drug paraphernalia, and several city ordinance violations.
- 1:05am - East – Assist Police: Officers assisted Monona PD, DCSO and state patrol with the pursuit of a vehicle that was traveling over 100mph on the beltline. An MPD sergeant placed spike strips to attempt to disable the vehicle. Monona PD took the driver into custody.
- 3:30am - Central – Disturbance: Officers searching for a man who was possibly suicidal made contact with a 37-year-old male who matched the description. After determining this was not the right person, officers ended contact. The suspect followed an officer as the officer left the area and began screaming and causing a disturbance. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
