Number of calls
From 6:00am on August 25 to 6:00am on August 26, we received 440 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 75
- East: 103
- Midtown: 76
- North: 73
- South: 52
- West: 52
- Other: 9
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Tuesday, August 25:
Priority calls only from 7:32pm to 9:06pm due to calls for service.
Priority calls only from 9:48pm to 11:03pm due to calls for service.
- 7:03am – South – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject. The subject was contacted and transported the subject to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. Emergency detention not supported. Subject released.
- 7:57am – South – Sexual Assault of a Child: A 20-year-old male subject, with probable cause for their arrest, was located/arrested in another county. The subject was brought back to Madison and booked into jail for sexual assault of a child.
- 8:54am – Central – Assist MFD: Officers responded, along with MFD, to a report of a chair on fire (E. Wilson St/S. Few St). Gas can located nearby. Investigation continuing.
- 3:11pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 64-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
- 4:34pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: A 24-year-old male subject, with probable cause for their arrest from our agency, Cottage Grove and Dane County, was contacted at the men's shelter. The subject was arrested and transported to jail.
- 4:40pm – South – Disturbance: Officers responded to a report of a 43-year-old male subject harassing other people and throwing rocks at vehicles. The subject was arrested for felony criminal damage to property (2 counts), disorderly conduct, and a parole violation.
- 7:27pm – Central – Crash: A separate law enforcement agency was in pursuit of a motorcyclist (26-year-old male). Another motorcyclist (not being pursued) took a turn too quickly, crashed, and sustained significant injuries. The other agency came across this crash and stopped. The other motorcyclist caused a secondary crash with a vehicle that had to swerve to avoid hitting them. The 26-year-old male subject was arrested for eluding. Investigation continuing.
- 8:05pm – Central – Intoxicated Driver: CARES initially responded to a check person request of a 35-year-old female subject in a vehicle in a parking lot. CARES observed the subject drive away and crash into an unattended vehicle (several times). MPD responded. The subject was contacted and found to be impaired. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (3rd offense). The subject was also cited for hit-and-run.
- 9:30pm – Midtown – Armed Robbery: A male subject entered a convenience store with a long gun and stole money. Investigation continuing.
- 10:44pm – East – Missing Adult: A 65-year-old male subject with dementia was reported as missing. Attempt to locate aired. Areas checked. Silver Alert issued.
- 11:25pm – West – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving two subjects (26-year-old female and 28-year-old male). Both subjects deemed to be involved in a mutual physical disturbance. The female subject was arrested for domestic battery while armed. The male subject was arrested for domestic battery.
