The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on August 3 to 6:00am on August 4, we received 424 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 71
- East: 81
- Midtown: 76
- North: 87
- South: 34
- West: 68
- Other: 7
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Monday, August 3:
Priority calls only from 10:43pm to 1:34am due to calls for service.
- 7:50am – North – Stolen Auto: A vehicle was reported stolen. A tablet in the vehicle tracked the vehicle. Officers located the vehicle unoccupied with damage to the steering column. Investigation continuing.
- 8:10am – Midtown – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a report of a deceased subject (42-year-old female). Medical Examiner's office responded. Decedent had a history of medical/health concerns. Nothing suspicious identified.
- 8:11am – East – Adult Arrested Person: A wanted subject (48-year-old male) was observed by an officer. The subject was taken into custody and transported to jail.
- 4:23pm – North – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a report of a deceased subject (59-year-old male). Death was self-inflicted. Nothing suspicious identified.
- 4:52pm – East – Substantial Battery: Officers responded to a report of a subject (22-year-old male) physically assaulting another person. The subject struck the victim with a rock causing injuries that required stitches and medical glue. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, substantial battery, and felony bail jumping.
- 5:18pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 26-year-old male subject. The subject was not on scene when officers arrived but was located/detained nearby. Probable cause was developed to charge the subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct while armed, domestic false imprisonment, and domestic criminal damage to property while armed.
- 10:33pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: Caller reported that a family member (40-year-old female subject) was in their vehicle intoxicated and talking with people who were not there. The subject is on probation and is not allowed to consume alcohol. The subject was contacted and arrested on a probation/parole hold. She was also charged with resisting.
- 10:38pm – South – Crash: Officers responded to a vehicle vs. motorcycle crash (John Nolen Drive/Olin Ave). A driver made a turn (not from the dedicated turn lane as required) by swerving into oncoming traffic. A motorcyclist, which had a green light, collided with the vehicle. The motorcyclist was pronounced deceased. The driver remained on scene and was cooperative. Investigation continuing.
Tuesday, August 4:
Priority calls for service started at 4:20am and remains at the time of this writing due to calls for service.
- 4:20am – Midtown – Found Child: A young child was found wandering on the Beltline. Parents not identified. CPS notified. Investigation continuing.
