The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on August 4 to 6:00am on August 5, we received 336 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 65
  • East: 82
  • Midtown: 38  
  • North: 62
  • South: 36
  • West: 46
  • Other: 7

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Tuesday, August 4:

  •  8:36am – South – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a report of a deceased subject (83-year-old male). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified. 
  • 11:47am – West – Check Person: A subject left their group home on a bicycle and made statements of heading to Janesville. Phone contact was made with the subject who stated they would return to their group home tomorrow. The subject is able to come/go from the group home. The group home will re-contact police if the subject does not return home. 
  • 7:36pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: A 44-year-old male subject followed a subject home and entered their apartment unit.  The victim yelled at him and he left.  Later in the day the subject tried to get into another apartment unit. The occupants of the unit escort the subject out of the apartment building and observed the subject enter an unlocked vehicle. The subject was confronted and pulled out from the car. The subject pulled out a knife and started swinging it around. The subject took off running when police were called. The subject was located and arrested for criminal trespass to dwelling, disorderly conduct while armed, disorderly conduct, and attempted entry into locked vehicle.

Wednesday, August 5:

  • 1:56am – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers were flagged down reference a disturbance involving a 38-year-old male subject. Witnesses report that the subject was intoxicated, attempted to punch one person, and pushed another subject to the ground. The subject attempted to walk away from officers. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, battery to law enforcement, and resisting.
