The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on December 15 to 6:00am on December 16, we received 416 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 53
- East: 111
- Midtown: 57
- North: 87
- South: 43
- West: 58
- Other: 7
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the city. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Monday, December 15:
Priority calls only from 6:47pm to 8:20pm due to calls for service.
- 5:58am - South – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence where the 36-year-old female suspect struck the victim while armed with a handgun. The suspect was arrested and charged with domestic battery and disorderly conduct while armed.
- 9:47am - East – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence where an 80-year-old man was found deceased. Nothing suspicious on scene.
- 11:45am - South – Battery: Officers responded to a residence where the 54-year-old male suspect punched the victim. The suspect was arrested and charged with battery.
- 1:49pm - East – Domestic Disturbance: The victim reported that the 39-year-old male suspect assaulted her during an argument in a vehicle. The suspect was arrested and charged with domestic battery, disorderly conduct, and 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety.
- 2:35pm - West – Death Investigation: Staff at a car dealership reported that they discovered a 49-year-old man deceased in a vehicle that was towed there. The death did not appear to be suspicious.
- 6:16pm - Central – Suspicious Person: Staff at Jewish Experience of Madison reported a suspicious man who came into the office wearing what appeared to be a ballistic vest and a Palestinian flag. The man had one hand in his pocket and was pointing it as if he had a gun. The man asked for food, which he was given, and he then left. Officers established probable cause to arrest the suspect for disorderly conduct while armed once he is positively identified. Investigation continuing.
- 9:30pm - East – Check Property: Multiple callers reported hearing shots fired in the area of Mesta Ln and Wintergreen Dr. Officers checked the area and did not locate fired casings, damaged property or signs of anyone injured.
Tuesday, December 16:
- 1:51am - Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to the area of E Washington Ave and Blair St for a report of two men fighting, as well as a report of a disturbance in the apartment building at that corner. A 26-year-old male suspect was arrested for resisting. A 43-year-old male suspect was arrested and charged with battery and disorderly conduct. A 35-year-old male suspect was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct. A female suspect was cited for resisting.
