The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on December 2 to 6:00am on December 3, we received 363 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 40
- East: 88
- Midtown: 77
- North: 67
- South: 27
- West: 53
- Other: 11
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Tuesday, December 2:
Priority calls only from 7:28am to 11:52am due to calls for service/staffing available.
Priority calls only from 6:23pm to 7:49pm due to calls for service/staffing available.
- 6:29am – West – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a deceased subject (57-year-old male). The decedent was on hospice and had a DNR in place. Nothing suspicious identified.
- 7:12am – West – Child Abuse: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a minor and parent (34-year-old female suspect). The minor reported being physically assaulted by their parent. The minor had visible injuries. The suspect was issued a felony order in for physical abuse to a child.
- 8:50am – North – Child Neglect: Officers received a request to check the welfare of 3 young children living in a motel room. The children’s mother was not present. A person was with the children but unable to care for them any longer. Child Protective Services responded and took custody of the children.
- 12:02pm – North – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (65-year-old male). The subject went unresponsive at a dialysis appointment. The subject had an active DNR. Medical Examiner’s office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
- 2:18pm – North – Weapons Offense: Caller reported a tenant let them know someone fired a shot into a vacant unit. Contact made with a subject who reported a 39-year-old male suspect fired the shot a few days prior. The suspect was found to be at the jail on a probation hold. The suspect was contacted and he refused to provide a statement. The suspect was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and issued a citation for discharge of a firearm.
- 4:25pm – West – Sexual Assault of a Child: Officers received a report of a sexual assault of a child. Investigation continuing.
- 4:25pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: Officers received a request for a welfare check from probation/parole. A 41-year-old male suspect was contacted. A disturbance had taken place earlier in the day involving the suspect. It was reported that the suspect pulled out 2 firearms during the disturbance. 3 guns were located/recovered. The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct while armed and possession of a firearm by a felon.
- 11:41pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 37-year-old male suspect. The suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
- 11:59pm – Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance where a 23-year-old male suspect punched another person. Staff at the business attempted to intervene. The suspect attempted to punch them as well. The suspect was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct. A 23-year-old male suspect attempted to intervene with the investigation and was arrested for obstructing.
Wednesday, December 3:
- 12:26am – East – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. Areas checked. K9 track picked up a scent. The subject was located and agreed to seek services at a local hospital. Local mental health resources plugged in. Officers disengaged.
