The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 72 hours (Friday morning to Monday morning).
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on December 26 to 6:00am on December 29 we received 977 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

- Other: 19
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Friday, December 26:
- 7:40am – South – Disturbance: Officers responded to a 911 disconnect where yelling was heard. Officers arrived on scene and detained a 45-year-old male subject who started to fight them. Investigation determines that the 45-year-old subject kicked in an apartment door and punched a victim in the face. The victim started to call 911 when the subject grabbed the phone and broke it. The victim got a knife and stabbed the subject (superficial wound). The physical altercation continues until officers arrived. The subject was arrested for felony intimidation of a victim, battery, resisting, disorderly conduct (2 counts), criminal damage to property (2 counts), and misdemeanor bail jumping. The victim and subject are known acquaintances.
- 8:20am – Midtown – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject who had mail piling up. Maintenance made entry to the residence. No one was located. Contact was made with a family member who confirmed the subject was out of state and safe.
- 9:38am – Central – Sexual Assault of a Child: Officers received a report of a sexual assault of a child that occurred approximately 11 years ago. Investigation continuing.
- 10:11am – East – Juvenile Arrest: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 14-year-old female subject. An argument took place between the subject and her parents reference her behavior. The subject packed a bag and tried to leave the residence. The subject has a history of running away. The subject’s father blocked the door so she could not leave. The subject hit her father in the head. The subject was arrested for battery and transported to the Juvenile Reception Center.
- 5:30pm – North – Adult Arrested Person: An inspection was conducted of an apartment by the management company for a resident/subject (67-year-old male). Drugs and drug paraphernalia were located during the inspection. The subject was arrested for possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession of fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia, and maintaining a drug dwelling.
- 8:28pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 38-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
- 8:47pm – West – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to what was initially reported as a check welfare of a possible suicidal subject. Officers made contact with two subjects (including a 53-year-old female subject). Investigation showed that the subject slapped the other subject (victim) in the face. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
Saturday, December 27:
Priority calls only from 10:58am to 4:20pm due to calls for service.
- 12:22am – North – Battery: Officers responded to a report of a victim being assaulted on a Metro bus by a 40-year-old male subject. The subject punched the victim numerous times. The subject was arrested for substantial battery.
- 1:40am – North – Sexual Assault: Officers responded to a local hospital for a report of a sexual assault. Officers met with the victim and obtained a statement. Investigation continuing.
- 2:34am – Central – Hit-and-Run: Officers responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash with the driver/vehicle leaving the scene. The pedestrian/victim was located on the ground. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Investigation continuing.
- 7:56am – Midtown – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject acting odd, moving things around the lobby area, and removing papers from a bulletin board. Officers did not initially locate the subject, but identified the subject and verified that a Chapter 51 return was active. The subject was later located at their residence. The subject was taken into protective custody and transported to a local hospital. Placement pending.
- 8:41am – North – Check Person: Officers responded to a residence for a subject who has outstanding probable cause. Subject located and taken into custody. Local mental health resources plugged in as an emergency detention may be sought. Final outcome pending.*Subject transported to Winnebago. Criminal charges pending for the subject.
- 12:10pm – East – Sexual Assault: Officers responded to a motel for a report of a sexual assault. The victim was contacted and conveyed to a local hospital. Investigation continuing.
- 4:18pm – West – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (87-year-old male). Lifesaving measures were performed, but not successful. Medical Examiner’s office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
- 6:12pm – East – Check Person: Officers responded to a report of an unresponsive subject (62-year-old male) at a BRT station. The subject was contacted and found with open intoxicants. The subject was awake and alert. The subject refused to leave the BRT station. The subject was cited for open intoxicants and transported to jail to post on the citation.
- 8:43pm – West – Check Person: Officers responded to a report of a subject unconscious and cold. Lifesaving measures performed. Pulse is located and the subject was transported to a local hospital.
- 9:08pm – South – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 28-year-old male subject. The subject was not cooperative with officers when they arrived on scene. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and resisting.
- 10:44am – East – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (75-year-old male). Death self-inflicted. Medical Examiner’s office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
Sunday, December 28:
Priority calls only from 10:28am to 12:58pm due to calls for service.
- 4:06am – Midtown – Check Person: Officers responded to a report of a subject who cut themselves. Officers arrived and applied a tourniquet. The subject was transported to a local hospital. Local mental health resources plugged in. Final outcome pending.
- 6:30am – East – Adult Arrested Person: A 22-year-old male subject with an active DOC warrant was located, taken into custody, and transported to jail.
- 6:44am – East – Trespass: Officers responded to a report of trespassing by a 43-year-old female subject. The subject was contacted and found to have drug paraphernalia on them. The subject was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia.
- 8:20am – East – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a senior living facility for a pulseless non-breathing subject (88-year-old male). Subject determined to be deceased. Medical Examiner’s office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
- 8:44am – South – Check Person: Caller/babysitter called to report the parent/mother had not returned home when they said they would and they could no longer care for the child. Attempts were made to locate/contact the mother, with no success. CPS took custody of the child. Officers continued to call the mother’s cell phone numerous times until she finally answered. No criminal charges substantiated at this time. CPS will conduct their own investigation.
- 9:51am – North – Residential Burglary: Officers responded to a report of a residential burglary (home under construction). Power tools were reported missing/stolen. Homeowner came into contact with the suspect and confronted him. The suspect fled on foot. The homeowner attempted to stop the suspect but the suspect pushed them to the ground. Areas canvassed. Suspect not located. Investigation continuing.
- 3:20pm – East – Theft: Officers responded to a business for a theft complaint involving a 46-year-old male subject. The subject provided several fictitious names to officers. The subject was positively identified and found to have an outstanding warrant. The subject was arrested for obstructing and the warrant.
- 4:36pm – Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to the Beacon for a disturbance outside their facility involving a 37-year-old male subject. Witnesses observed the subject on top of the victim actively strangling them. Staff intervened and were able to separate them. The subject resisted officers. The subject was arrested for strangulation, disorderly conduct, and resisting.
- 5:54pm – East – Hit-and-Run: Officers responded to a hit-and-run crash at N. Thompson St/Swanton Rd. The caller provided the suspect vehicle’s license plate number. The suspect vehicle and suspect (44-year-old female) were located. The suspect was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (4th offense), resisting, hit-and-run, and obstructing.
- 10:14pm – Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance at a business on State Street involving a 38-year-old male subject. The subject entered the business and started yelling and throwing things at an employee. The subject left the business and left his ID behind. The subject was located and arrested for battery, disorderly conduct, and a probation hold.
- 2am – Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: A 45-year-old male subject has bail conditions to not contact another subject. Victim reported that the subject sent them a Facebook message. The subject was located and arrested for bail jumping.
