The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on December 29 to 6:00am on December 30, we received 351 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 44
  • East: 79
  • Midtown: 64  
  • North: 66
  • South: 36
  • West: 52
  • Other: 10

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Monday, December 29:

Priority calls only from 6:29am to 7:17am due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 10:29pm to 2:01am due to calls for service.

  • 5:51am - South – Crash: Officers responded to a rollover crash (Beltline between Todd and Seminole). No injuries reported. Single vehicle crash.   
  • 8:21am - West – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (35-year-old male). Subject determined to be deceased. Decedent had health/medical concerns. Medical Examiner’s office. Nothing suspicious identified.
  • 9:15am - North – Death Investigation: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject (63-year-old female) who had not shown up to work last Friday or today.  Property management provided access to the unit. The subject was located deceased. Medical Examiner’s office responded. Nothing suspicious identified at this time.
  • 10:28am - Midtown – Trespass: Officers responded to a trespassing complaint (subject no longer on scene). Possible suspect identified. Investigation continuing.
  • 1:54pm - North – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a local hospital for a 53-year-old female subject refusing to leave the premises. The subject stole merchandise from the gift shop. The subject was arrested for retail theft and cited for trespassing.
  • 2:17pm – West – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (51-year-old male). Medical Examiner’s office responded. Decedent had a history of health/medical concerns. Nothing suspicious identified.
  • 3:31pm - West – Juvenile Arrest: Officers responded to a bomb threat involving a 16-year-old male subject. This call generated a large response given the residence is a 4-story apartment complex. The juvenile and their mother met officers and were cooperative. Numerous apartments evacuated. Dane County EOD and MPD EOD K9 assisted. Items seized safely. Local mental health resources consulted. The juvenile was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and bomb threat. The juvenile was conveyed to the Juvenile Reception Center.
  • 5:22pm - Central – 911 Disconnect: Officers responded to a 911 disconnect. Areas canvassed with nothing of concern located. On the second pass a 58-year-old female subject was slurring her words and requested an ambulance for all the “bodies.” The subject was found to have call 911 numerous times. She was arrested for misuse of 911.
  • 5:40pm – Central – Sexual Assault of a Child: Officers responded to a report of a sexual assault that occurred approximately 2 years ago. Investigation continuing.
  • 9:53pm - East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance. A 28-year-old male subject got into a physical altercation with the victim. The subject punched the victim in the head numerous times. A 29-year-old male subject inserted himself into the altercation and put his hands around the victim’s neck. The 28-year-old was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, battery, obstruction, and disorderly conduct. The 29-year-old was arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting, felony bail jumping, and a parole hold.
  • 9:53pm - South – Residential Burglary: Caller returned home and found the doorknob to their apartment hanging from the door. Nothing was noted to be damaged or missing. A chair was noted as being moved. Investigation continuing.
  • 10:03pm - North – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a report of a 47-year-old male subject “beating himself” and hitting cars. The subject was contacted and found to have heroin on him. The subject was arrested for possession of heroin, felony bail jumping, and an active warrant.
