The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on December 30 to 6:00am on December 31, we received 376 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 58
- East: 83
- Midtown: 55
- North: 67
- South: 42
- West: 69
- Other: 2
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Tuesday, December 30:
- 4:13am - North – Recovered Runaway Juvenile: A 15-year-old female runaway from Iowa contacted officers after she got into a physical altercation with a male subject she was staying with. Probable cause was not developed for any charges. The juvenile did not have anywhere to go so she called police wanting a ride back to Iowa. The juvenile was transported to the custody of Iowa CPS.
- 9:24am - South – Adult Arrested Person: Officers received a request from DOC (out of Milwaukee) to located and taken into custody a 21-year-old male subject. The subject was located, arrested, and transported to the Dane County jail.
- 12:49pm - East – Retail Theft: Officers responded to a report of a retail theft at Kohls involving a 49-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for misdemeanor retail theft and felony bail jumping.
- 1:04pm - Central – Assist EMS: Officers responded, along with EMS/Fire, to a report of a 43-year-old subject having an overdose. Lifesaving measures were performed, but were not successful. Obvious signs of an overdose present. 5 children were turned over to the care/custody of CPS.
- 1:16pm - West – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a business for a report of an intoxicated subject (38-year-old male) causing a disturbance. The subject was not cooperative with officers. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting, possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor bail jumping (2 counts).
- 5:21pm - North – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a business for a report of a disturbance involving a 63-year-old female subject. The subject was yelling, causing a scene, asking other customers for money, and refusing to leave the premises. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting. The subject was cited for trespass after notification.
- 6:39pm - East – Retail Theft: Officers responded to the mall for a retail theft involving a 20-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for felony retail theft, felony bail jumping, and an active warrant.
- 9:33pm - Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: Officers received a request from the DOC to locate/arrest a 29-year-old male subject. The subject was located and taken into custody on a probation hold warrant.
- 10:25pm - Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a knife. Contact made with numerous subjects. A folding knife was located/recovered. Numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia observed in plain view. A dispute, likely over drugs, was found to have occurred. 3 subjects were arrested, 2 subjects were released. A 43-year-old male subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia. A 34-year-old male subject was arrested for a child support warrant. A 52-year-old female subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed, battery, resisting/obstructing, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
- 11:44pm - East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 25-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for domestic battery, domestic disorderly conduct, and a warrant.
Wednesday, December 31:
- 2:05am - East – Check Area: Officers responded to a report of a shots fired in the area of Retana Dr/Meadowlark Dr. Casings were located/recovered. Neighbors report a vehicle was driving at a high rate of speed when the shots were heard. A fence was damaged. No other property damage or injuries reported at this time.
