The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on December 31 to 6:00am on January 1st, we received 428 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 79
- East: 93
- Midtown: 72
- North: 78
- South: 44
- West: 49
- Other: 13
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Wednesday, December 31:
- 5:23am - West – Sexual Assault: Officers met with a victim who reported being sexually assaulted. The victim did not wish to pursue the matter and only wanted it documented at this time.
- 9:08am – East – Stolen Auto: A vehicle was reported stolen from an underground garage. Personal property from the vehicle located/recovered. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.
- 9:36am - North – Runaway Juvenile: A 12-year-old female was reported as missing/runaway after being gone for nearly 24-hours. Attempt to locate aired. The juvenile was listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases.
- 11:59am - East – Crash: An officer came upon a several vehicle crash (Hwy 51/Hwy 30). A 33-year-old male driver is under investigation for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated causing injury. A victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Investigation continuing.
- 2:01pm - East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a business for a report of a disturbance involving a 52-year-old male subject. The subject was observed slapping, dragging, and yelling at his son. The subject was not cooperative with officers. The subject was arrested for physical abuse of a child and disorderly conduct. Child Protective Services notified.
- 8:56pm - East – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 22-year-old male subject at the men’s shelter. The subject was asked to leave numerous times by staff and he refused. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct.
- 9:02pm - East – Traffic Stop: A traffic stop was initiated and the driver/vehicle fled. Vehicle observed going through parking lots and sliding off the road into shrubs. 4 subjects fled on foot into a wooded area. All subjects apprehended and arrested – charges include operating a motor vehicle without consent (passenger) and criminal damage to property (party to a crime). The vehicle was determined to be stolen.
- 11:13pm - Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to a report of a subject screaming into their phone that their friend was being sexually assaulted. Officers arrive on scene and do not find that anyone was being sexually assaulted. Two subjects nearby were contacted as they were in an Uber that was not theirs and they were refusing to get out. The two subjects were intoxicated. Areas checked for additional information. Information was obtained that the two subjects entered a frat and said they wanted to party. The residents of the frat did not know them and told them to leave. The subjects left, continued to be very loud, and ended up calling the police themselves. One of the subjects (16-year-old female) lied to police about her identity. She was transported to a local hospital for a medical clearance and then taken to the Juvenile Reception Center for obstruction, underage drinking, disorderly conduct, and battery to law enforcement. Contact attempted with the juvenile’s parents but there was no answer. The other subject (15-year-old female) was also conveyed to a local hospital for a medical clearance. Parent contacted who was cooperative with officers. The subject was taken to the Juvenile Reception Center on charges of disorderly conduct, resist/obstruct, and attempted battery to law enforcement.
- 11:43pm - North – Adult Arrested Person: A bicyclist with no lights was observed. The bicyclist went around railroad arms that were down. Contact made with the bicyclist (60-year-old male). The subject was found to be wanted. The subject was arrested on a parole warrant.
