The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on December 8 to 6:00am on December 9, we received 381 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 68
  • East: 101
  • Midtown: 52
  • North: 63
  • South: 36
  • West: 52
  • Other: 9

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the city. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Monday, December 8:

Priority calls only from 10:32am to 12:14pm due to calls for service.

  • 5:35am - North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence where the 26-year-old female suspect struck the victim and attempted to prevent him from leaving. The suspect was arrested and charged with domestic disorderly conduct. (This was a late call that did not make the previous 24-hour cycle.)
  • 5:49am - East – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence where a 64-year-old male who was under hospice care passed away. Nothing suspicious on scene. (This was a late call that did not make the previous 24-hour cycle.)
  • 9:34am - East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence where the 42-year-old male suspect armed himself with a piece of broken glass and attempted to enter other residents' apartments. Officers developed probable cause to charge the suspect with disorderly conduct while armed. Officers consulted with Journey Mental Health who supported an emergency detention.
  • 11:02am - East – Sexual Assault: A victim reported that an unidentified male sexually assaulted her about a year ago. Investigation continuing.
  • 2:40pm - East – Violation of Court Order: The victim reported that she received a letter from the 36-year-old male suspect, violating a court order that he not contact the victim. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for the violation. Suspect is at large.
  • 2:55pm - Midtown – Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence where a 19-year-old female suspect assaulted two caretakers. The suspect was arrested and charged with two counts of battery.
  • 6:30pm - South – Death Investigation: A 55-year-old male was found deceased in his residence due to a possible drug overdose. Nothing suspicious on scene.
  • 7:21pm - East – Check Person: Dispatch received a report of someone in a pickup truck with a gun. Officers made contact with the occupants of the vehicle and did not locate a gun. No charges were substantiated.
  • 7:49pm - Central – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence where a 72-year-old male was discovered deceased. Nothing suspicious on scene.
  • 8:39pm - East – Threats Complaint: MMSD staff relayed to MPD information related to ongoing issues between two families. Investigation continuing.

Tuesday, December 9:

  • 1:18am - West – Adult Arrested Person: DOC requested that officers take into custody a 37-year-old male suspect. Officers arrested the suspect and conveyed him to the jail without incident.
