The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on February 23 to 6:00am on February 24, we received 459 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 78
- East: 84
- Midtown: 73
- North: 84
- South: 71
- West: 58
- Other: 11
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Monday, February 23:
Priority calls only from 3:04pm to 4:42pm due to calls for service
Priority calls only from 9:09pm to 11:06pm due to calls for service.
- 8:35am - Central – Adult Arrested Person: A 27-year-old male subject was arrested while at the courthouse for probable cause for domestic disorderly conduct.
- 1:42pm - Midtown – Mutual Aide: MPD SWAT was requested to serve a high-risk search warrant for Tomah PD in reference to a felony stalking investigation involving a 30-year-old male subject (700 block of W. Washington Ave). The warrant was served without incident and the subject was taken into custody. The scene was turned over to Tomah PD.
- 2:06pm - North – Disturbance: Officers responded to a motel on Hayes Rd for an assist EMS call. A victim was located with significant injuries consistent with a physical assault. A 32-year-old male subject was identified as a suspect. A perimeter was established at the motel. SWAT assisted to make contact with the subject who made threats to kill the victim. The subject was contacted and arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, domestic intimidation of a victim, domestic false imprisonment, and domestic strangulation. A charge of battery may be forthcoming pending medical results.
- 2:53pm - Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to the library on W. Mifflin St for a disturbance involving a 21-year-old female subject. The subject approached the victim, attempted to punch the victim, and grabbed the victim’s hair. The subject was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct.
- 3:23pm - West – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a retail theft in progress involving a 46-year-old male subject. The subject stole merchandise the day prior and stole merchandise on this date as well. The subject was detained by security. The subject was arrested for misdemeanor retail theft (2 counts) and issued a citation for trespassing.
- 8:53pm - North – Crash: An intoxicated subject attempted to cross the road (not in the crosswalk) and was struck by a vehicle/driver (Shopko Dr/Aberg Ave). The driver remained on scene and was cooperative. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Tuesday, February 24:
- 12:24am - Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: Contact was made with a 44-year-old male subject who had drove his vehicle into his neighbor’s garage door and threatened to kill everyone a few days prior. At that time the subject fled and was not located. The subject was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, failure to notify police of an accident, and a probation/parole hold.
- 2:54am - East – Traffic Arrest: A traffic stop was conducted. The driver was cooperative. The passenger (43-year-old female) provided false identification to officers. The subject was positively identified and found to have an outstanding warrant. The subject was transported to jail on the warrant and issued a citation for obstruction.
