The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on February 26 to 6:00am on February 27, we received 471 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 59
  • East: 106
  • Midtown: 76  
  • North: 95
  • South: 62
  • West: 58
  • Other: 15

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Thursday, February 25:

  • 10:22am - Midtown – Crash: Officers responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian cash (Russett Rd). The pedestrian darted out into traffic when they were struck. Driver remained on scene and was cooperative. Pedestrian conveyed to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.  
  • 1:42pm - East – Theft: Officers responded to Best Buy for a retail theft involving a 32-year-old male subject. The subject stole a speaker and was on scene still as he lost the keys to his vehicle somewhere in the store. Subject contacted/detained. Vehicle search conducted where drugs, drug paraphernalia, and burglary tools were located. The subject was arrested for theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of heroin, possession of burglarious tools, and felony bail jumping (4 counts).
  • 3:30pm – East – Crash: Officers responded to a vehicle vs. pole crash (Cottage Grove Rd/Dempsey Rd). The driver (44-year-old female) was observed by witnesses as climbing out of the smashed windshield. It was also reported that the driver/subject seemed to be impaired. The subject was transported to a local hospital. A blood draw was conducted. Drugs identified to be involved. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
  • 6:46pm - West – Mental Health Conveyance: A subject was seen for a mental health evaluation. The subject was taken into protective custody where an emergency detention was sought. Outcome pending. Probable cause also developed for the subject from a domestic incident that occurred the night prior. 
  • 9:23pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 47-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and domestic battery.
  • 9:59pm - West – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 40-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
  • 11:59pm - Central – Adult Arrested Person: A traffic stop was conducted. The driver (28-year-old male) had an extraditable warrant out of Columbia county. The subject was taken into custody and transported to jail.

Friday, February 27:

  • 3:51am - Central – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a report of a deceased subject (41-year-old male). Medical Examiner’s office responded. Nothing suspicious identified at this time.
