The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 72 hours (Friday morning to Monday morning).
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on February 6 to 6:00am on February 9 we received 1,183 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

- Other: 32
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Friday, February 6:
Priority calls only from 8:04pm to 11:36pm due to calls for service.
- 5:10am – North – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance with a report of a subject being tased. The caller stated an unknown subject was attempting to break into a neighbor’s vehicle when their husband confronted the subject (35-year-old male) and was tased. The subject’s footprints were tracked and the subject was located/arrested for disorderly conduct and substantial battery.
- 9:13am – East – Non-Residential Burglary: Officers responded to a burglary of a business with cash missing/stolen (4700 block of Cottage Grove Rd). Investigation continuing.
- 9:35am – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance at a residence. Officers have responded numerous times to this same address this week. A 37-year-old female subject was throwing items around the home and forcing another resident to get out of the home. The subject barricaded herself in the bathroom with OC. Officers initially disengaged. The subject sent text messages to their spouse with statements about committing suicide. Officers returned to the home, made announcements that they would be entering to check her welfare, and entered the home. An officer was sprayed with OC by the subject. The subject was taken into protective custody and transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. Emergency detention sought/approved. Criminal charges also forthcoming. Subject was transported to Winnebago.
- 9:36am – Midtown – Threats Complaint: A report was made to officers about threats a juvenile (13-year-old male) made (social media located of the juvenile with firearms). Juvenile contacted and found to have an outstanding warrant. The subject was transported to the Juvenile Reception Center. Investigation continuing.
- 5:51pm – West – Sexual Assault: A victim reported being sexually assaulted by an acquaintance a few days prior. Investigation continuing.
- 6:37pm – North – Child Abuse: Officers responded to a local hospital for injuries to a child. CPS plugged in and already working with the family on previous concerns. CPS took custody of the child. Suspect not contacted at this time. Investigation continuing.
- 7:50pm – North – Weapons Offense: Officers responded to a local hospital for a victim who reported being stabbed (non-life threatening). Suspect identified by the victim. Contact attempted with the suspect, but they were not located. Investigation continuing.
- 9:03pm – West – Disturbance: Officers responded to a parking lot for a report of a disturbance. As officers were on their way the call was updated that a subject was shot. A victim is located and conveyed to a local hospital. Suspect not on scene. Witnesses interviewed. Victim reported being pistol whipped, beaten, and shot. Investigation continuing.
Saturday, February 7:
Priority calls only from 6:45pm to 11:11pm due to calls for service.
- 1:03am – South – Traffic Arrest: A traffic stop was attempted. The driver (28-year-old male)/vehicle fled. Monona PD picked up the vehicle and pursued it. MPD deployed a tire deflation device, which was effective. The driver and passenger fled on foot but were apprehended. The driver was arrested by Monona PD. MPD has charges forthcoming for felony eluding and false imprisonment.
- 7:32am – Midtown – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 43-year-old male subject. Officers arrived on scene and were advised the subject was inside with 3 children, a dog, a long gun, and a handgun. The children were safely extracted from the home. The subject was taken into custody and charged with domestic disorderly conduct while armed.
- 9:03am – East – Missing Adult: A 67-year-old female resident of a group home was reported as missing. Attempt to locate aired. Areas checked. Monona PD responded to a check person of a subject waling near the Monona Rd exit at the Beltline. The subject was the missing female. Subject was assessed by EMS and then returned to her group home.
- 5:29pm – Midtown – Intoxicated Driver: A 24-year-old male driver was called in as reckless driving on Stoughton Rd/E. Washington Ave. The vehicle was called in later as being involved in a hit-and-run. The driver/vehicle struck a tree in the 5700 block of Old Middleton Rd and fled by way of another vehicle. The driver was located/contacted. The driver was arrested for hit-and-run, reckless driving, and operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Drug paraphernalia and suspected drugs located in the vehicle. Additional charges forthcoming pending results.
- 6:36pm – North – Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 27-year-old male subject. The subject got into a verbal argument with his partner’s ex (father of the child they have in common). The victim shoved the subject. The victim fled and while running through the common area hallway gets shot by the subject. The victim sustained a non-life threatening injury to their leg. The subject was arrested for 2nd degree reckless endangering safety.
- 10:41pm – South – Crash: A victim attempted to break up an argument between their sibling and a 36-year-old female subject in a parking lot. The subject got into their vehicle and struck the victim as she was driving away. The victim sustained minor injuries. Investigation continuing.
- 11:46pm – Central – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to the YWCA for a disturbance involving a 36-year-old female subject. A disturbance was found to have occurred between the subject and their minor child. The subject was arrested for physical abuse to a child and disorderly conduct. CPS notified. The subject has an extraditable warrant out of Indiana for domestic assault.
- 11:49pm – North – Recovered Stolen Auto: A stolen vehicle was identified at Hwy M and K by the Dane County Sheriff’s Office. The deputy attempted to follow the vehicle and then lost sight of it. MPD located the vehicle unoccupied by Troy. Two subjects were observed running from the area. A 21-year-old male subject was apprehended. The subject was arrested for resisting. Vehicle towed.
Sunday, February 8:
- 5:03am – North – Check Person: Officers received a request to respond to a group home to talk with a resident who had left the home but had returned. There is a history of the subject assaulting staff and staff requested MPD to talk with the subject about their behavior. Officers spoke with the subject and the caregiver. When officers went to leave the residence, the resident/subject (39-year-old male) struck an officer from behind in the center of their face with a closed fit. The subject was arrested for battery to law enforcement and resisting causing soft tissue injury.
- 12:23pm – North – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a residence to attempt to locate/arrest a wanted subject (54-year-old male). The subject was observed as officers arrived at the residence. The subject denied who he was and began to run away. The subject was apprehended. The subject resisted officers. The subject was arrested for owner liability hit and run, resisting, possession of drug paraphernalia, and an extraditable warrant from Illinois. Drug charge pending as well.
- 3:59pm – Central – PNB Response: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject. Naloxone administered. An officer was bit by the family’s dog as they were helping provide lifesaving aid to the subject. The subject was transported to a local hospital. Subject reported to taking prescription medication of back pain. No evidence of drug use observed.
- 6:42pm – East – Trespass: Officers responded to a retail theft at a business involving a 29-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested on outstanding warrants.
- 10:16pm – Central – Stalking Complaint: A victim reported their ex was stalking them. Officers attempted to serve a stalking letter to the subject, but he refused contact.
- 11:28pm – East – Drug Incident: Officers responded to an apartment complex for a report of a 40-year-old female subject smoking crack in a bathroom and refusing to leave. The subject was contacted and arrested for possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and felony bail jumping.
Monday, February 9:
- 12:54am – Midtown – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a 911 disconnect with an argument occurring in the background. Contact made with two subjects, including a 29-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for false imprisonment, third degree sexual assault, two counts of felony bail jumping, and an outstanding warrant.
