The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on January 12 to 6:00am on January 13, we received 406 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 71
- East: 98
- Midtown: 54
- North: 79
- South: 44
- West: 50
- Other: 10
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Monday, January 12:
Priority calls only from 4:44pm to 6:17pm due to calls for service.
Priority calls only from 8:58pm to 10:29pm due to calls for service.
- 7:06am - Midtown – Mental Health Conveyance: Officers responded to a local hospital for a subject in need of an emergency detention (sought/approved). Transport to Winnebago pending.
- 7:58am - Midtown – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject. The subject was contacted, placed into protective custody, and transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. Emergency detention evaluation not able to be completed. The subject was left in the care of medical staff and officers disengaged.
- 11:45am - West – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (40-year-old male). Decedent was an alcoholic, recently sick, and not very mobile. Medical Examiner’s office responded. Nothing suspicious identified at this time.
- 12:38pm - West – Check Area: Officers responded to the 6800 block of Schroeder Rd for numerous reports of shots fired. Areas checked. No evidence of shots fired located at this time.
- 12:54pm - North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 26-year-old male subject. The victim and subject got into an argument in a vehicle. The subject struck the victim, leaving visible injuries. The subject took the victim’s cell phone. The victim was able to exit the vehicle. The subject left the area. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject. An address for the subject was checked without success. The subject remains at-large.
- 1:21pm - East – Adult Arrested Person: A 21-year-old male subject, wanted by probation/parole, was observed and taken into custody. He was also charged with resisting.
- 2:20pm - Central – Death Investigation: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject (78-year-old male) whose mail was piling up for a few weeks. Entry made to the residence and the subject was located deceased. Medical Examiner’s office responded. Nothing suspicious identified at this time.
- 3:26pm - North – Crash: Officers responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash (3300 block of Packers Ave). The pedestrian was struck by a driver/vehicle (remained on scene) as they were crossing the road. The pedestrian died. Investigation continuing.
- 3:52pm - Central – Adult Arrested Person: A 45-year-old male subject turned himself in on outstanding probable cause (violation of an injunction order). The subject was served a stalking letter and booked into jail.
- 6:29pm - South – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 50-year-old male subject. The subject struck the victim. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and domestic battery.
- 7:18pm - West – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 29-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and resisting. She was also charged with misdemeanor bail jumping (2 counts) and a probation violation.
- 8:39pm - North – Battery: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 24-year-old female subject. The subject attacked and strangled the victim. The subject was arrested for battery and strangulation.
- 10:57pm - East – Strong Armed Robbery: Caller reported they pulled over to offer help to a female subject standing on the side of the road. The subject got into the caller’s vehicle. The subject forced the caller out of the vehicle. The vehicle crashed into a wall and the female subject took off on foot. The caller reported the subject took their wallet. Investigation continuing.
Tuesday, January 13:
- 2:33am - East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 41-year-old male subject. The subject was reportedly calling the victim constantly and showed up at the victim’s residence unannounced. The subject tried to pop a screen off one of the windows. MPD arrives in the area and the subject took off in their vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted and the subject was detained. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, attempted criminal trespass to a dwelling, and felony bail jumping.
