The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on January 19 to 6:00am on January 20, we received 315 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 49
  • East: 63
  • Midtown: 53  
  • North: 74
  • South: 30
  • West: 41
  • Other: 5

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Monday, January 19:

Priority calls only from 7:05pm to 11:07pm due to calls for service. 

  • 7:06am - Central – Assist MFD: Officers assisted with traffic control while MFD handled a structure fire (N. Paterson).
  • 9:25am - Midtown – Check Welfare: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject. The subject was observed through a window, in need of help. Entry made. The subject was transported to a local hospital.  
  • 11:26am - North – Discharge of Weapon: Gun owner was cleaning their weapon when they had a negligent discharge. A round went into another apartment unit. The gun owner was cooperative and apologetic. The gun owner was cited for negligent discharge of a weapon.
  • 2:46pm - Midtown – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a report of a deceased subject (87-year-old male). The subject had been out shoveling when he collapsed. Decedent had a history of health/medical concerns. Nothing suspicious identified.
  • 5:54pm - North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 24-year-old male subject. The subject punched the victim in the head. The subject was arrested for domestic battery, a probation/parole hold, and an active warrant.
  • 6:07pm - North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 30-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • 7pm - East – Disturbance: Officers responded to Porchlight for a disturbance involving a 50-year-old male subject. The subject instigated a physical altercation with another subject. The subject was told to leave and he refused. The subject was arrested for battery, disorderly conduct, and resisting. The subject was cited for trespassing.
  • 11:12pm - Central – Juvenile Arrest: A 16-year-old male subject was gaining entry into a locked apartment building (where he has no ties to). The juvenile was contacted by residents. The juvenile was hostile to the residents. Officers arrived and observed the juvenile and other subject running.  Both subjects apprehended. The male juvenile was arrested for disorderly conduct (2 counts) and resisting. The other subject was released to their parents.
  • 11:29pm - South – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 64-year-old male subject. The subject dragged and punched the victim. The victim reported losing consciousness. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, domestic substantial battery, and a parole violation.
  • 11:44pm - East – Adult Arrested Person: DOC requested officers locate/arrest a 54-year-old male subject for violating the terms of his supervision. The subject was contacted and transported to jail.
  • 11:48pm - East – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a report of a subject on a Metro bus claiming a bunch of people had been pointing guns at him. The subject began walking up and down the aisles and threatened to shoot other passengers. No gun was displayed. The subject was contacted and found to have a folding knife on him. The subject was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. Criminal charge forthcoming. Final outcome pending.

Tuesday, January 20:

  • 3:38am - East – Mental Health Conveyance: A subject was taken to a local hospital after being found walking around outside not properly clothed. An emergency detention was sought/approved. Transport to Winnebago pending.
