The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on January 21 to 6:00am on January 22, we received 375 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 62
  • East: 86
  • Midtown: 61  
  • North: 63
  • South: 45
  • West: 49
  • Other: 9

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Wednesday, January 21:

Priority calls only from 1:40pm to 3:11pm due to calls for service. 

  • 7:41am - North – Check Person: Officers responded to a report of a caller reporting they were suicidal. The subject was contacted and transported to a local hospital. The subject was left in the care of medical staff and officers disengaged.  
  • 10:57am - East – Check Area: Officers, along with MFD, responded to the 700 block of Rethke Ave reference multiple callers complaining of a chemical smell in the building. MPD assisted with an evacuation of residents and traffic control. All floors of the building checked and nothing was located. Additional follow-up necessary.  
  • 12:11pm - West – Adult Arrested Person: Detectives met with a 23-year-old male subject reference a sexual assault investigation. When the subject was advised there was probable cause for their arrest they attempted to flee on foot. The subject was taken into custody and transported to jail on charges of sexual exploitation of a child, child enticement, 3rd degree sexual assault and resisting.  
  • 1:45pm - West – PNB/AED Response: Officers responded, along with EMS, to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (subject was determined to have attempted to commit suicide). The subject was conveyed to a local hospital in serious condition.  
  • 5:46pm - East – Adult Arrested Person: A wanted subject, 28-year-old male, was located and arrested for 2nd degree sexual assault of a child, child enticement, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • 5:48pm – North – Death Investigation: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject (33-year-old female). As officers are enroute the call was updated to a pulseless non-breather. The subject had just been released from the hospital and had taken a ride-share home when she collapsed. Lifesaving measures attempted but were not successful. Medical Examiner’s office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
  • 9:55pm - East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 54-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and misdemeanor bail jumping.
  • 11:10pm - Central – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 30-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.

Thursday, January 22:

Priority calls only from 12:02am to 1:37am due to calls for service. 

  • 1:13am - West – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a hotel for a guest/subject (45-year-old male) who had his door propped open as he was watching pornography and masturbating which was observed by several other guests. The subject was arrested for lewd/lasvicious behavior.
