The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Number of calls
From 6:00am on January 22 to 6:00am on January 23, we received 355 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 58
- East: 87
- Midtown: 65
- North: 53
- South: 42
- West: 45
- Other: 5
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the city. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Thursday, January 22:
Priority calls only from 6:17am to 2:26pm and from 4:03pm to 6:48pm due to calls for service.
- 6:09am - Midtown – Weapons Offense: Officers responded to Meriter Hospital where the 55-year-old male suspect confronted the victim while armed. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the suspect for 1st degree reckless endangerment, felon in possession of a firearm, OMVWOC, and violate restraining order. Suspect is at large.
- 7:13am - Central – Check Person Weapon: Multiple callers to dispatch reported seeing a man carrying a rifle while walking in the downtown area. Officers contacted the man, who had a CCW permit, and determined the rifle was not loaded. Officers escorted him home where he left his weapons before continuing his walk.
- 7:47am - South – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence where a man found his 58-year-old wife deceased. Nothing suspicious on scene.
- 3:09pm - West – Bomb Threat: A UW Health clinic received a phone call from someone stating there was a bomb in the building. Officers checked two clinics and did not locate anything resembling an explosive device or anything suspicious.
- 3:39pm - East – Domestic Battery: Officers responded to a hotel where the 48-year-old male suspect physically assaulted the victim. The suspect was arrested and charged with domestic battery, disorderly conduct, and attempted mayhem.
- 4:05pm - West – Mental Health Conveyance: Journey Mental Health requested MPD's assistance with an emergency detention. Officers placed a woman into protective custody and she was admitted to a hospital.
- 4:44pm - West – Domestic Disturbance: During an argument, the 51-year-old male suspect pushed the juvenile victim and held her down. The suspect then cornered and yelled at a second victim. the suspect was arrested and charged with physical assault of a juvenile and domestic disorderly conduct.
- 5:21pm - East – Traffic Incident: Officers responded to the intersection of E Washington Ave and Portage Rd where a motorist struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian did not sustain any serious injuries. Officers did not issue any citations.
- 6:40pm - South – OMVWI: Officers responded to the area of W Broadway and Raywood Rd where the 49-year-old male suspect drove his vehicle off the road. The suspect was arrested for OWI 4th.
- 9:02pm - East – Child Abuse: Officers responded to a residence where the 21-year-old female suspect grabbed the victim, threw him to the ground and struck him. The suspect was arrested and charged with physical abuse to a child.
- 9:07pm - East – Sexual Assault of a Child: Officers responded to a hospital where the victim reported that the 44-year-old male suspect sexually assaulted her. Investigation continuing.
- 9:32pm - East – Domestic Disturbance: The victim reported that the 34-year-old male suspect banged his hands on the steering wheel and yelled at her while she was driving. The suspect was arrested and charged with domestic disorderly conduct.
