The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on January 28 to 6:00am on January 29, we received 369 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 63
  • East: 79
  • Midtown: 54  
  • North: 61
  • South: 43
  • West: 51
  • Other: 18

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Wednesday, January 28:

  • 4:24am - North – Drug Incident: Officers patrolling (Annamark Drive) observed a vehicle pulling into the parking lot of Best Western. Two subjects exited the vehicle and went into the motel. One of the subjects was identified as a subject with an outstanding warrant. Drugs were observed in plain view in the vehicle. Contact was made with the two subjects and they were both arrested. A 40-year-old male subject was arrested for the outstanding warrant, a probation hold, and possession of heroin. A 41-year-old male subject was arrested for possession of heroin and a probation hold. 
  • 7:29am - East – Unwanted Subject: Officers responded to an apartment complex in the 2500 block of E. Washington Ave for an unwanted person (56-year-old female) in the building. The subject is not a resident of the building and refused to leave the premises when staff asked her to leave. The subject locked herself in a common area bathroom. The subject was ultimately arrested and transported to jail to post on a city trespassing citation. 
  • 8:07am - East – Hit-and-Run: Officers responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian with the driver leaving the area (2600 block of Milwaukee St). The pedestrian sustained non-life threatening injuries.  The driver (76-year-old male) went to pick up his groceries and returned home where officers contacted him. The driver was arrested for hit-and-run causing injury.
  • 12:05pm - North – Death Investigation:  Officers responded to a report of a subject laying in the snow/wooded area (3000 block of Aberg Ave). MFD also responded. The subject was located deceased. Identity pending. Medical Examiner’s office responded. Investigation continuing.
  • 2:17pm - West – Physical Abuse of a Child: Officers responded to a disturbance at a residence involving a 33-year-old female subject. The victim sustained visible injuries. The subject was given an order-in for physical abuse of a child.  The victim was released to the care of another family member.
  • 2:34pm - West – Trespassing: A 25-year-old female subject generated 10+ calls at a residential apartment complex, where she is trespassing. The subject was arrested and transported to jail to post on a trespassing citation.
  • 11:06pm - East – Adult Arrested Person: A 37-year-old male subject, wanted, was located at a local hotel and arrested on a DOC warrant.

Thursday, January 29:

  • 12:08am - East – Traffic Arrest: A traffic stop was conducted. The driver/subject (59-year-old male) was found to have an outstanding warrant. The subject was arrested on the warrant and operating after revocation (15th offense).
  • 1am - Midtown – Stolen Auto: A stolen U-Haul was located/recovered. A 43-year-old male subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent and felon in possession of a firearm.
