The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on January 29 to 6:00am on January 30, we received 430 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Midtown: 60
  • North: 79
  • South: 52
  • West: 53
  • Other: 7

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the city. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Thursday, January 29:

  • 8:36am - East – Assist EMS: Officers responded to LaFollette High School for a report of someone unresponsive in a bathroom stall. School staff, MFD and MPD officers checked all bathrooms and did not locate anyone needing medical attention. Staff attempted to identify the person who contacted 911 but was unsuccessful.
  • 9:37am - West – Traffic Crash: Officers responded to the intersection of N Pleasant View Rd and Blackhawk Rd for a traffic crash with blockage. Officers responded to a number of crashes due to slippery road conditions.
  • 2:03pm - Central – Theft/Fraud: Two businesses reported that the 22-year-old male suspect stole checks and deposited them. The suspect was arrested for forgery and unauthorized use of an individual's personal identity documents.
  • 2:25pm - East – Runaway Juvenile: A mother reported that her 12-year-old son had run away. When officers located him, he struck an officer in the chest. Officers consulted with CARES. The juvenile was charged with battery to LE and conveyed to JRC.
  • 4:40pm - West – Domestic Disturbance: The victim reported that the 19-year-old female suspect grabbed him, scratched him and tried to keep him from getting out of their vehicle during an argument. The suspect was arrested for domestic battery and disorderly conduct.
  • 6:20pm - East – Traffic Stop: An officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with a license plate cover that obscured the plate. The 32-year-old male suspect was arrested and charged with possess THC, possess cocaine, and possess schedule I and II narcotic.
  • 6:21pm - Midtown – Traffic Crash: Officers responded to West Lawn Ave and Harrison St where a motorist struck a pedestrian. The 77-year-old male suspect was cited for failure to yield to pedestrian.
  • 6:44pm - Midtown – Assist EMS/Fire: Officers responded to a residence where a man's parents found him noncommunicative. MFD paramedics transported the man to a hospital. Officers consulted with Journey Mental Health. The man was left in the care of hospital staff.
  • 7:20pm - North – Adult Arrested Person: Officer observed a vehicle visiting several gas stations that had a history of fleeing from officers. The vehicle had no front plate and excessive tint. The 22-year-old male suspect refused to exit the vehicle when directed. The suspect was arrested and charged with resisting and carrying a concealed weapon.
  • 7:54pm - East – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence where a 76-year-old man was found without a pulse and not breathing. Life saving measures were unsuccessful. Nothing suspicious on scene.
  • 8:30pm - South – Sexual Assault: A victim reported that an unidentified male suspect sexually assaulted her while she was at work cleaning a business. Investigation continuing.

Friday, January 30:

  • 1:58am - Central – OMVWI: An officer observed a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot in an area known for drug-related activity. The officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the 47-year-old female driver for OWI 4th, felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, and going armed while intoxicated.
