Daily Calls: January 30-February 2, 2026
The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 72 hours (Friday morning to Monday morning).
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on January 30 to 6:00am on February 3 we received 1,064 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

- Other: 35
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Friday, January 30:
Priority calls only from 3:26pm to 4:33pm due to calls for service.
- 7:15am – East – Theft: Officers responded to the men’s shelter for a theft of a cell phone. A 34-year-old male subject was identified as taking the cell phone. The subject was tracked down. The subject had given the phone to another person to sell. The subject was arrested for theft (misdemeanor). The phone was recovered and returned to its owner.
- 9am – East – Traffic Arrest: An officer paced a driver (27-year-old male) going approximately 100-105mph on the Beltline. Traffic stop conducted. Driver was transported to jail to post on a reckless driving citation.
- 10am – East – Crash: Officers responded to a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash (University Ave/Park St). The driver (59-year-old male) struck the pedestrian who was in the crosswalk and had the right of way. The pedestrian was conveyed to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver was cited for failure to yield to pedestrian in a crosswalk.
- 11:05 – Central – Death Investigation: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject (71-year-old female) who was not answering the door for their caretaker. Entry made to the residence where the subject was located deceased. Medical Examiner’s office responded. Decedent had a history of health/medical concerns. Nothing suspicious identified.
- 11:47am – Midtown – Mental Health Conveyance: Officers responded to a local hospital for a subject in need of an emergency detention (sought/approved). Transport to Winnebago pending.
- 1:08pm – North – Death Investigation: Officers responded, along with MFD, to a report of a subject (76-year-old female) slumped over in a vehicle (Bunker Hill/Independence Lane). Caller attempted CCR prior to the arrival of MPD/MFD. Lifesaving measures not successful. Decedent had a history of health/medical concerns. Nothing suspicious identified.
- 1:22pm – South – Sexual Assault of a Child: Officers responded to a report of sexual assault of a child. Investigation continuing.
- 8pm – Central – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance between two subjects who reside together. The 23-year-old female subject and victim began to argue in a restaurant. The argument turned physical when the subject pushed and punched the victim in the head/face. The subject fled the area. Officers located the subject and arrested her for domestic disorderly conduct and battery.
- 10:41pm – North – Domestic Disturbance: A community member went into the North District to report that a 37-year-old male subject was causing a disturbance at a residence throwing things. Officers responded to the residence and detained the subject. Investigation took place with several subjects contacted/interviewed. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct (2 counts), domestic criminal damage to property, causing mental harm to a child, and a probation/parole warrant.
- 10:48pm – Central – Adult Arrested Person: A 39-year-old male subject was in a bar on E. Wilson Street when he began to argue with his girlfriend. Staff asked the subject to leave. The subject turned his attention to staff and got in their faces. The subject started to walk away as police arrived. Officers gave verbal commands to the subject to stop and he did not cooperate. Officers went to detain the subject when he physically resisted them. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting.
Saturday, January 31:
Priority calls only from 9:34am to 10:47am due to calls for service.
- 1:12am – West – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 31-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and a warrant.
- 9:31am – Central – Assist EMS: Officers responded, along with MFD, to a construction site accident. One subject was transported to a local hospital with injuries. Another subject had to be rescued by MFD as they were stuck high up on the building. MPD assisted with blocking traffic.
- 10:05am – North – Death Investigation: Officers responded, along with CARES, to check the welfare of a 66-year-old male subject. Entry was made to the residence where the subject was located deceased. The subject had a history of medical/health concerns as well as excessive alcohol use. Medical Examiner’s office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
- 2:57pm – East – Mental Health Conveyance: Officers responded to the library on Cottage Grove Rd for a subject who was described as “acting strange” and “out of control”. Contact made with the subject who was taken into protective custody and transported to a local hospital for an emergency detention evaluation (sought/approved). The subject was subsequently transported to Winnebago.
- 3:53pm – East – Check Person: Officers responded to an area near the bike path and railroad tracks (Garver Green/Garver Feed Mill) for a 38-year-old male subject screaming and lighting something on fire. Officers contacted the subject. The subject was not cooperative with officers. Subject had been issued prior warnings for camping/lodging in city parks. Probable cause was developed to arrest the subject. The subject actively resisted officers. The subject threatened an officer. The subject was arrested for resisting and threats to law enforcement.
- 6:51pm – East – Retail Theft: Officers responded to a retail theft in progress at Target involving a 23-year-old male subject. The subject was not cooperative when officers contacted him. The subject was found to have stolen merchandise on him. The subject threatened to shoot an officer. The subject was arrested for retail theft and threats to law enforcement.
- 9:17pm – Central – Intoxicated Driver: A traffic stop was conducted with a 37-year-old male driver/subject. The driver was found to be impaired and failed field sobriety tests. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense). The driver was cited for open intoxicants.
- 10:24pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: Officers were requested by DOC to locate/arrest a wanted subject (21-year-old male). The subject was located, arrested, and transported to jail.
- 11:23pm – Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: A 50-year-old male subject was on a metro bus when they began to argue with another passenger. The subject got in the face of the victim and began to follow them around. The victim sprayed the subject with pepper spray. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct.
- 11:30pm – South – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance between two subjects that took place in an uber. A 26-year-old female subject struck the victim in the face a couple of times. The victim threw the subject’s phone out the window and then they both ask the uber driver to stop so they can find the phone, which leads to other people calling the police. The subject was arrested for domestic battery.
Sunday, February 1:
- 7:27am – Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: Officers were requested by DOC to locate/arrest a wanted subject (49-year-old male). The subject was located, arrested, and transported to jail.
- 7:27am – East – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to the men’s shelter for a theft complaint. A 49-year-old male subject was identified as being involved. He was contacted and denied being involved, but then admitted to taking items. Most items recovered/returned to the subject. The victim did not want to pursue charges. The subject had an outstanding warrant so he was transported to jail.
- 8:03am – North – Intoxicated Driver: Officers responded to a report of a driver/subject (39-year-old male) passed out behind the wheel of a vehicle in a parking lot of a convenience store (in a snowbank, not a parking stall). The subject refused field sobriety tests. The subject consented to blood. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (4th offense).
- 1:16pm – West – Assist EMS: Officers responded, along with EMS, to a report of an unresponsive subject on the ground on Arden Lane. The subject was transported to a local hospital. Nothing suspicious identified at this time. Subject remains unresponsive in the hospital.
- 3:01pm – Central – Theft: Officers responded to the Beacon for a disturbance involving a 52-year-old female subject. The subject went to the Beacon to confront another subject about an alleged cell phone theft. The subject physically assaulted a staff member. The subject was arrested for simple battery and disorderly conduct.
- 5:06pm – North – Weapons Offense: Rental vehicle agency located 2 bullet holes in a vehicle that had been returned (vehicle had been operated by several employees, detailed, and washed before these were noticed). No indication of blood or evidence indicative of someone being struck by the rounds identified).
- 6:22pm – Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to the men’s shelter for a disturbance caused by an intoxicated 42-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and misdemeanor bail jumping.
- 7:23pm – Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to the Wisconsin Veterans Museum for a 56-year-old male subject who was causing numerous disturbances throughout the day and refused to leave the premises. The subject was yelling, aggressively approaching others, threw his bike, etc. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct.
- 9:59pm – East – Disturbance: A victim reported being struck with an empty vodka bottle which caused a bruise. The victim was intoxicated and the details of what occurred were fuzzy. The other subject involved was not on scene. Investigation continuing.
Monday, February 2:
- 12:13am – South – Recovered Stolen Vehicle: Caller reported observing a family member’s stolen vehicle being driven on Stoughton Rd near Buckeye. Areas checked. Vehicle not located. OnStar assisted in locating the vehicle, which was unoccupied. Vehicle recovered/towed.
