The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 72 hours (Friday morning to Monday morning).

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on July 10 to 6:00am on July 13 we received 1,350 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 300
  • East: 298
  • Midtown: 201   
  • North: 214
  • South: 155
  • West: 164
  • Other: 18

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Friday, July 10:

  • 6:43am – East – Burglary: Officers responded to a report of a theft of a cell phone. A 67-year-old female subject was identified as being involved. She has sold the cell phone she stole. The subject was arrested for burglary and misdemeanor bail jumping.   
  • 7:15am – East – Adult Arrested Person: The DOC requested that MPD locate/arrest a client (61-year-old male) of theirs who was violating the terms of their supervision. The subject was located, contacted, and taken into custody.
  • 11:29am – Central – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. Officers located/contacted the subject. Final outcome pending.
  • 12:10pm – South – Intoxicated Driver: A 67-year-old male driver/subject called 911 stating they were suicidal, drinking, driving, and not willing to pull over for anyone. The subject was located and contacted. The subject was in possession of alcohol. The subject became angry during the contact with officers – threw his phone, stomped his feet, aggressed on officers while cursing. The subject was detained and probable cause was developed to arrest the subject for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (4th offense). The subject obtained a medical clearance before going to jail. The subject injured a hospital security guard and was also charged with battery.
  • 12:54pm – Central – Crash: Officers responded to the intersection of W. Washington Ave/N. Broom St for a single-vehicle crash.  Vehicle struck a light pole and a building. Driver sustained non-life threatening injuries. No other injuries reported. Investigation continuing.
  • 7:10pm – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a report of a 28-year-old male subject who showed up unannounced to take their child whom they have no parental rights to. Officers arrived on scene and the subject had left.  A family member received a text from the subject showing him holding a gun up to his own head. Phone ping completed. The subject was located/contacted. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, obstruction, and a parole hold.
  • 7:55pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a report of a 28-year-old male subject threatening to harm themselves with a box cutter. The subject was contacted by officers and not cooperative. The subject was transported to a local hospital due to the subject being intoxicated. Local mental health provider consulted. The subject was arrested for resisting and ended up going to seg once he arrived at the jail.

Saturday, July 11:

  • 12:20am – North – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a local hospital for a 65-year-old female subject causing a disturbance. The subject punched several hospital staff members and barricaded herself in a bathroom. The subject took swings at officers. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, threats to law enforcement, resisting, felony bail jumping, and misdemeanor bail jumping.
  • 1:39am – Central – Adult Arrested Person: A 22-year-old male subject was in an establishment very intoxicated and refusing to leave the premises when staff asked him to. Staff attempted to escort the subject out of the building. The subject punched a staff member. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and battery.
  • 1:48am – Central – Adult Arrested Person: An officer observed a fight take place in the 100 block of S. Pinckney St. A 26-year-old male subject was determined to be the primary aggressor. He was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting.
  • 8:33am – West – Disturbance: A 33-year-old male subject texted the victim threatening to kill them. Probable cause developed to arrest/charge the subject. Attempts were made to locate the subject. The subject remains at-large.  
  • 11:41am – East – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject was contacted and transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. The subject was left in the care of medical staff and officers disengaged. *The subject left the hospital and continued to threaten suicide. The subject was located and taken into protective custody. The subject was transported back to a local hospital where a mental health evaluation was sought/approved. The subject was transported to a local facility for placement.
  • 4:10pm – Central – Stolen Auto:  A vehicle was reported stolen. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was observed by officers and a traffic stop was attempted. The driver/vehicle did not stop.  No pursuit initiated. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.
  • 7:08pm – Central – Residential Burglary: Officers responded to a report of guns missing/stolen from a residence. Investigation continuing.
  • 9:22pm – West – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject was contacted and placed into protective custody. The subject was transported to a local hospital where an emergency detention was sought and approved. The subject was transported to a facility for placement.

Sunday, July 12:

  • 12:21am – Central – Juvenile Arrest: officers responded to a report of a subject (16-year-old female) passed out in a bathroom of a restaurant in the 500 block of State Steet. The juvenile was contacted and found to be intoxicated. The juvenile was conveyed to a local hospital due to her level of intoxication. No parent could be reached. The juvenile screamed and yelled at officers. The juvenile was arrested for disorderly conduct and transported to the Juvenile Reception Center.
  • 12:59am – East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 26-year-old female subject. The subject punched the victim in the face. The subject threatened to shoot the place up. The subject was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct.
  • 1:41am – East – Disorderly Conduct:  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 23-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and criminal trespass to dwelling. 
  • 2:46am – East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 60-year-old male subject. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject for domestic disorderly conduct while armed. Subject at the hospital obtaining medical treatment.  
  • 4:41am – West – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject having a mental health episode. The subject was contacted, placed into protective custody, and transported to a local hospital where an emergency detention was sought/approved. Transport to Winnebago completed.
  • 5:20am – South – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 26-year-old female subject. The subject armed herself with a knife and stabbed the victim twice. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who was not located. Subject remains at-large.
  • 6:02am – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving several subjects, including a 24-year-old male subject and a 30-year-old male subject. Probable cause developed to arrest the 24-year-old (who remains at-large). The 30-year-old was charged with battery. A third person was reported to be involved and has not yet been identified. The victim required stitches for their injuries. Investigation continuing.
  • 10:39am – East – Hit-and-Run: Officers responded to a crash with 2 subjects taking off from the scene. The vehicle was listed as stolen. Investigation continuing. 
  • 11:48am – West – Stolen Auto: A vehicle was reported stolen from the street. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases.  
  • 2:35pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 34-year-old male subject. The subject fled the residence before officers arrived. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who remains at-large.
  • 2:57pm – North – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 61-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and a parole hold.
  • 7:35pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 29-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct (2 counts), domestic battery, domestic substantial battery, domestic intimidation of a victim, and a parole violation.
  • 7:38pm – Central – Intoxicated Driver: Officers responded to a report of a driver/vehicle going the wrong way and driving recklessly. The driver (29-year-old male) fled on foot when he saw officers arriving. The subject was apprehended. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense), criminal damage to property, 2nd degree reckless endangering safety, resisting, and obstructing. The driver was also issued numerous traffic citations.
  • 10:35pm – East – Strong Armed Robbery: A 23-year-old female subject tried to take a purse from an acquaintance (unsuccessfully). Two unknown male subjects physically assaulted a different victim and took their wallet/phone. The female subject and 2 male subjects left together in a vehicle. Probable cause developed to arrest the female subject, who remains at-large. Male subjects need to be identified for their charges. Investigation continuing.
