The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on July 15 to 6:00am on July 16, we received 490 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 91
- East: 98
- Midtown: 84
- North: 79
- South: 69
- West: 55
- Other: 14
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Wednesday, July 15:
Priority calls only from 8:34am to 12:11pm due to calls for service.
- 5:26am – East – Aggravated Battery: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 32-year-old male subject. The subject became upset with the victim (an acquaintance) and punched them several times. The victim attempted to run away. The subject caught up to the victim and punched them several more times in the face. The subject took the victim's wallet and cell phone and threw them on the ground. The subject left the area. The victim required stitches for their injuries. Later in the morning a caller reported a driver/vehicle all over the road and possibly passing out. A traffic stop was conducted by MPD and Sun Prairie PD. The driver was the same person as the subject involved in the disturbance. Naloxone was administered by EMS. The subject was arrested for substantial battery, strong armed robbery, disorderly conduct, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sun Prairie PD charged the subject with domestic-related charges and outstanding warrants from Iowa.
- 8:13am – East – Mental Health Conveyance: A subject at a local hospital was in need of an emergency detention (sought/approved). The subject was subsequently transported to Winnebago for placement.
- 12:13pm – East – Disturbance: officers responded to a disturbance involving a 62-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and false imprisonment.
- 3:14pm – North – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance/trespassing complaint involving a 22-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct (2 counts) and trespassing after notification.
- 4:35pm – Midtown – Missing Adult: A 57-year-old male subject was reported as missing. Attempt to locate aired. The subject was listed as missing in the appropriate databases.
- 6:09pm – North – Disturbance: Officers responded to a 911 call for assistance. Officers made contact with the caller (47-year-old female) who reported there was no emergency but she was wanting a ride home. The caller was provided guidance on when it is appropriate to call 911. Officers disengaged. A short while later officers were dispatched to an active disturbance involving the caller. The subject was heavily intoxicated, throwing chairs, and had urinated in an elevator. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, depositing human waste, and misuse of 911.
- 8:36pm – Central – Domestic Disturbance: The victim reported that their ex (30-year-old male) attempted to kidnap them and assaulted them. The subject was contacted and arrested for false imprisonment, battery, disorderly conduct, and kidnapping (domestic-related charges).
- 9:36pm – Midtown – Intoxicated Driver: A 33-year-old male driver crashed into another vehicle head on (Monroe St/Pickford St). No injuries reported. The driver was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st offense).
Thursday, July 16:
- 2:02am – North – Death Investigation: Officers responded, along with EMS, to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (64-year-old female). Lifesaving measures attempted but they were not successful. The subject had a history of health/medical concerns. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified at this time.
- 2:25am – Central – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject who was acting very strange. The subject told staff at an establishment that they were being chased. Staff felt scared by the subject. Contact was made with the subject who was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. Subject agreed to services and officers disengaged.
