The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on July 16 to 6:00am on July 17, we received 503 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 119
  • East: 102
  • Midtown: 73
  • North: 80
  • South: 45
  • West: 78
  • Other: 6

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the city. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Thursday, July 16:

  • 9:00am - East – Stolen Auto: Employees at a business reported that a work van was stolen. The vehicle was tracked to a parking lot where officers responded and assisted with recovering the vehicle. 
  • 9:10am - West – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence where an 84-year-old woman was found deceased. Nothing suspicious on scene.
  • 9:48am - Central – Stolen Auto: A victim reported that her car was stolen from a parking lot sometime overnight. The vehicle was listed as stolen and an ATL was aired.
  • 11:10am - North – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence where a 40-year-old man was found deceased. Nothing suspicious on scene.
  • 1:02pm - South – Check Person: Officers responded to a residence where a man who was under a Chapter 51 commitment was experiencing a mental health crisis. The man refused to dialogue or cooperate with officers. Officers developed probable cause to arrest the man for threats to LE and disorderly conduct while armed.
  • 1:14pm - Midtown – Sexual Assault: The victim reported she was sexually assaulted by an employee at a health care clinic. The 27-year-old male suspect was suspended from his job pending an investigation. 
  • 5:32pm - East – Domestic Disturbance: The victim reported that the 35-year-old male suspect punched and strangled her during an argument. The suspect was arrested and charged with domestic disorderly conduct, strangulation and battery.
  • 10:49pm - Central – OMVWI: A caller to dispatch reported a vehicle driving on a rim. Officers located the vehicle and made contact with the 32-year-old male suspect who was arrested and charged with hit and run, OWI 1st, and going armed while intoxicated.

Friday, July 17:

Priority calls only from 12:54am to 1:44am due to calls for service.

  • 1:49am - East – Disturbance: A caller to dispatch reported a man and woman fighting near an intersection. When officers arrived on scene, the 34-year-old male suspect fled on foot but was eventually apprehended. The suspect was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and possession with intent cocaine.
