The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on July 20 to 6:00am on July 21, we received 452 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

•    Central: 78
•    East: 94
•    Midtown: 76
•    North: 71
•    South: 58
•    West: 63
•    Other: 12

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Monday, July 20:

Priority calls only from 9:08am to 9:29am due to calls for service. 

•    3:50am – Midtown – Check Person: Officers responded to a local hospital for a subject in need of a mental health evaluation. Evaluation/outcome pending.  

•    9:26am – East – Stolen Auto: A vehicle was reported stolen from a parking lot. There was a pile of glass located where the vehicle was last seen/parked. Attempt to locate aired. The vehicle was listed as stolen in the appropriate databases. 

•    10:23am – East – Armed Robbery: Officers responded to Hy-Vee for an armed robbery by a male subject with a hammer. The subject was not on scene when officers arrived. Areas canvassed. Investigation continuing. 

•    2:07pm – Central – Disturbance: Police were called on a trespassing suspect. The man resisted arrest and attempted to kick officers as he was taken into custody. One officer suffered a minor injury. 

•    3:14pm – East– PNB/AED Response: A woman called for help after her adult son was found unresponsive at their home. Nothing suspicious located at the scene. 

•    3:52pm – North – PNB/AED Response: A person returned to his vehicle to find a passenger unresponsive. EMS responded and life-saving measures were attempted. Nothing suspicious located at the scene.

•    9:48pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: A woman called for help after a man punched her and took her phone during an argument. Probable cause established to arrest the man for domestic disorderly conduct, battery and intimidation of a victim.

•    11:27pm – North – Traffic Proactive: A gun was recovered during a traffic stop in the area of Packers Ave. and Manley St.
