The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 72 hours (Friday morning to Monday morning).

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on July 31 to 6:00am on August 3 we received 1,122 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 237

  • Midtown: 175

  • South: 112
  • West: 147
  • Other: 32

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Friday, July 31:

Priority calls only from 11:07am to 3:19pm due to calls for service. 

  • 10:50am – South – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (49-year-old male). Lifesaving measures performed, but they were not successful. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
  • 6:29pm – Midtown – Intoxicated Driver: Officers responded to a single-vehicle crash into a median with the driver/subject (25-year-old female) walking away from the scene. A 28-year-old male subject/passenger and a child remained with the vehicle. The female subject was located/contacted later in the evening. The subject reported that the male subject battered her. The domestic incident was determined to have occurred in Fitchburg. Fitchburg PD notified. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence with a passenger under the age of 16 (2nd offense) and a probation hold. The male subject was arrested on a probation hold. The child was released to a family member.
  • 6:43pm – East – Drug Incident: Officers responded to Ho Chunk reference a 53-year-old male subject dropping what was believed to be drugs from their pocket. The subject was contacted/detained. The contents of the package tested positive for cocaine. The subject was arrested for possession of cocaine.  
  • 6:45pm – North – Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 66-year-old male subject. The subject and the victim are roommates living in a sober living facility.  The two of them engaged in a verbal argument several days earlier that caused increased tension between the two of them. The victim called 911 after locking themselves in a room due to concerns that the subject was going to become physically violent with them. The subject was contacted and found to be intoxicated. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, resisting, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a probation/parole hold.
  • 11:22pm – West – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a report of a deceased subject (79-year-old male subject). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
  • 11:40pm – East – Weapons Offense: A 19-year-old male subject pointed a gun at 3 victims. The subject was not on scene when officers arrived. The subject was arrested previously this week for running from a traffic stop and dropping a firearm with a switch. The subject was released from jail and acquired another firearm. Subject remains at-large.
  • 11:51pm – Midtown – Check Person: Officers responded to a local hospital for a subject in need of an emergency detention.  The subject was at the hospital on a voluntary basis, and decided they no longer wanted help. An emergency detention was sought/approved. Transport to a facility completed.

Saturday, August 1:

Priority calls only from 1:22pm to 3:22pm due to calls for service. 

  • 2:50am – Central – Weapons Offense: Officers responded to a parking ramp for a report of a subject with a gun. Officers detained 5 subjects, 3 of whom were arrested. A 24-year-old male subject was arrested for obstruction. A 26-year-old male subject was arrested for resisting and misdemeanor bail jumping. A 26-year-old male subject was arrested for resisting. No gun was located/recovered. 
  • 3:36am – South – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 28-year-old male subject. The subject called 911 himself due to concerns for the victim after he grabbed the victim by the throat. The subject was arrested for domestic strangulation, domestic disorderly conduct, and domestic criminal damage to property. 
  • 8:45am – West – Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 12-year-old female subject. The subject and her parent got into an argument over the car and cell phone. The subject bit her parent on the arm leaving a visible mark. The subject was arrested for battery and transported to the Juvenile Reception Center. 
  • 1:49pm – East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 58-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic battery and domestic disorderly conduct. 
  • 5:07pm – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 60-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and domestic battery. 
  • 5:38pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: A traffic stop was conducted due to the vehicle being associated with a wanted subject (19-year-old male). The subject was arrested for endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon, misdemeanor bail jumping, and felony bail jumping. A 25-year-old male subject in the vehicle was arrested for possession/illegally obtained prescriptions and felony bail jumping (2 counts).  
  • 9:08pm – North – Intoxicated Driver: A 28-year-old male subject/driver was observed poorly driving and striking unattended vehicles before passing out behind the wheel. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (4th offense). 
  • 10:28pm – East – Hit-and-Run: A 35-year-old male subject crashed his vehicle into a tree and fled on foot. The subject was located hiding on a roof. The subject was arrested for hit-and-run and resisting. 
  • 11:03pm – Central – Disturbance: Officers were alerted to a disturbance occurring involving a 25-year-old male subject. The subject assaulted their partner, assaulted a victim who tried to intervene, and threatened to harm 2 other subjects. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and battery (2 counts). 

Sunday, August 2:

Priority calls only from 2:51am to 7:02am due to calls for service. 

Priority calls only from 4:58pm to 8:47pm due to calls for service. 

  • 2:30am – Central – Check Area: Officers responded to the new jail that is under construction for a burglary in progress. Two subjects were observed on camera jumping a fence and running. A perimeter was formed. A 20-year-old male subject was locating hiding. The subject was arrested for trespassing and resisting. The second subject was not located.
  • 3:28am – Midtown – Check Area: Officers were monitoring a large gathering when they observed a wanted subject (33-year-old male). The subject was arrested and transported to jail.
  • 5:07am – East – Threats Complaint: Probable cause developed to charge/arrest a 46-year-old male subject who has made threats over voicemail and through social media to a victim. Subject remains at-large.
  • 6:55am – East – Stolen Auto: A vehicle was stolen by a 21-year-old male subject. The subject was contacted and arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent and misdemeanor bail jumping.      Vehicle located.
  • 7:28am – North – Check Person: Officers responded to a local hospital for a subject in need of a possible emergency detention. Subject voluntarily seeking services at this time. Officers disengaged.
  • 9:02am – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a report of a driver/vehicle traveling on E. Washington Ave, crossing over the median, traveling through the outbound lanes, and proceeding to drive through bushes. The driver/subject (44-year-old male) was contacted. The subject was highly confrontational with officers – swearing, yelling, spitting. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct. A search incident to arrest yielded fentanyl. The subject was arrested for possession of fentanyl and issued numerous traffic citations.
  • 10:30am – West – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 17-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic battery.
  • 12:45pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: An officer observed a wanted subject (19-year-old male). The subject was arrested for a probation warrant and resisting.
  • 4:01pm – Central – Adult Arrested Person: A 37-year-old female subject was observed on State Street which is against her bail conditions. The subject was arrested for misdemeanor bail jumping, threats to officers, and resisting causing soft tissue injury.
  • 4:22pm – East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 32-year-old female subject. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property.
  • 7:32pm – North – Armed Robbery: The victim met up with a subject who were wanting to purchase a pair of shoes from them. The victim was met by 3 subjects. A 15-year-old male subject lifted their shirt and showed the victim that he has a handgun in his waistband. The subject told the victim they were taking the shoes. The subject took the shoes and fled. Two subjects were located/detained by the officers (16-year-old male). Both subjects were arrested for armed robbery (party to a crime). The gun and shoes were not located. The third subject was not located. The two arrested subjects were transported to the Juvenile Reception Center.
