The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on June 15 to 6:00am on June 16, we received 452 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 89
  • East: 95
  • Midtown: 69  
  • North: 89
  • South: 47
  • West: 55
  • Other: 8

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Monday, June 15:

Priority calls only from 9:47am to 12:10pm due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 2:09pm to 3:37pm due to calls for service. 

  • 6:51am – Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: DOC requested that MPD locate/arrest their client (36-year-old male) for a parole violation. The subject was contacted, arrested, and transported to jail.  
  • 7:23am – Central – Assist EMS: Officers responded, along with EMS/Fire, to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (74-year-old male). Lifesaving measures were performed. A pulse was obtained. The subject was transported to a local hospital. 
  • 9:10am – East – Disturbance: Caller reported that their adult son was screaming in their face and refusing to leave the residence. The caller advised that a handgun was in a safe but as of this morning they noticed the safe was open and the handgun was gone.  The caller was able to leave the residence. There were no other subjects in the home other than the adult son. Concerns about the subject's mental health identified. This call involved a lot of police resources, including mental health officers. Phone contact made with the subject. Officers were allowed in the residence to locate the handgun. No criminal charges substantiated.
  • 11:34am – West – Death Investigation: MFD requested MPD/Medical Examiner's office respond to an assisted living facility after a resident (89-year-old female) lost consciousness and had an active DNR in place. The resident was pronounced deceased. Nothing suspicious identified.
  • 12:32pm – West – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject (22-year-old male) not moving in a dumpster. The subject was contacted and found to be sleeping. The subject was trespassing. The subject was arrested for trespassing, possession of drug paraphernalia, bail jumping, and 2 outstanding warrants.  
  • 3:25pm – West – Check Person: Officers responded to a report of a possible suicidal subject. CARES also responded and officers disengaged. Later in the day officers were requested again to assist with an emergency detention. The subject was placed into protective custody and transported to a local hospital. Transport to a facility pending.
  • 5:04pm – West – Disturbance: Officers responded to a group home for a disturbance between a resident and a caretaker. Contact made with all parties. Local mental health resources plugged in. Final outcome pending.
  • 9:25pm – Central – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 28-year-old male subject. Contact made with the subject and the victim. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject. Local mental health provider completed an evaluation of the subject but determined they would not pursue an emergency detention. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
  • 10:07pm – North – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a disturbance that occurred in a vehicle. A 58-year-old male subject was a passenger in a vehicle. The subject took offense to the victim's driving style and began to assault them as they were driving. The subject also assaulted two rear passengers in the vehicle to the point that all 3 victims fall out of a moving vehicle. The subject fled from the area in the vehicle. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who remains at-large.
