The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on June 29 to 6:00am on June 30, we received 492 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 81
  • East: 87
  • Midtown: 93  
  • North: 98
  • South: 53
  • West: 66
  • Other: 14

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Monday, June 29:

Priority calls only from 2:32pm to 3:38pm due to calls for service. 

  • 3:50am – North – Strong Armed Robbery: Officers responded to a disconnect call where the caller reported they had been hit. The caller was contacted and was not very cooperative with officers. Information was obtained that the subject was at home outside when two subjects pulled up in a vehicle and started talking to him. One of the subject's “sucker punched" the victim in the face and took their cell phone. The phone was tracked and a 29-year-old male subject was observed. The subject took off on foot when they observed the officers. The subject was apprehended. The subject was arrested for strong armed robbery, resisting, battery, and a DOC warrant.
  • 9:58am – West – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (82-year-old male). Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.  
  • 11:42am – North – Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a juvenile who was upset when their phone was taken away. The juvenile grabbed a knife and attempted to harm themself. The subject sustained superficial injuries. The subject was placed into protective custody and transported to a local hospital for an emergency detention evaluation (sought/approved). The juvenile was placed at a local facility. 
  • 1:47pm – West – Armed Robbery: Officers responded to a report of an armed robbery. Explanation of what occurred changed throughout contact with officers. Situation appears to have been a drug transaction that went wrong. A suspect (18-year-old male) was identified, contacted, and arrested for armed robbery. Firearm not recovered.
  • 2:27pm – South – Child Neglect: Officers responded to a motel for a report of 2 unresponsive adults (49-year-old female and 60-year-old female) where a child was present. Concerns were mentioned about the lack of care for the child who was non-verbal, autistic, and in soiled diapers. The child was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation. Search of the motel room yielded suspected opiates. CPS took custody of the child. The 49-year-old received a felony order-in for possession of a Schedule I narcotic. Additional charges forthcoming. Investigation continuing.
  • 4:28pm – Central – Mental Health Conveyance: Officers responded to the Juvenile Reception Center to place a juvenile into protective custody at the request of a local mental health provider. The juvenile was transported to a local hospital for a medical clearance. Transport to Winnebago completed. 
  • 6:40pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: Probable cause was developed to arrest a 36-year-old male subject who was issued a stalking warning letter but had continued to harass the victim. The subject was contacted and arrested.
  • 6:42pm – Central – Aggravated/Substantial Battery: A victim was at a bus stop when they were physically assaulted. The subject was located/detained. The subject reported they had been sexually assaulted by the victim. There was no evidence that this occurred.  The subject was offered a medical evaluation at a local hospital and they declined. The subject was initially arrested but a local mental health provider requested a mental health evaluation be conducted. The subject was transported to a local hospital. Evaluation/outcome pending.
  • 8:28pm – Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to a report of a 27-year-old male subject threatening people on State Street. The call was updated to report that the subject was using pepper spray on people. The subject was located/contacted. The subject was not cooperative with officers. A taser was utilized to take the subject into custody. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting.
  • 10:24pm – Central – Sexual Assault: A 62-year-old male subject committed a 4th degree sexual assault on State Street. The subject was arrested and also charged with disorderly conduct. A request was made to ban the subject from State Street.

Tuesday, June 30:

  • 3:57am – North – Trespass: Officers responded to a clinic for a subject (53-year-old female) who had been discharged, was causing a disturbance, and refused to leave the premises. The subject was arrested for trespassing.
