The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on June 8 to 6:00am on June 9, we received 449 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 89
- East: 88
- Midtown: 77
- North: 68
- South: 61
- West: 51
- Other: 15
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Monday, June 8:
Priority calls only from 3:46pm to 4:50pm due to calls for service.
- 8:14am – Central – Non-Residential Burglary: Surveillance video showed a subject stealing items from a construction site over the weekend. Investigation continuing.
- 9:29am – Midtown – Non-Residential Burglary: Employees of a business arrive to work and find their offices in disarray and other items damaged. Cash was found to be missing/stolen as well as employee records, tax forms, etc. Investigation continuing.
- 9:29am – Central – Sexual Assault: A victim reported being sexually assaulted last week. Investigation continuing.
- 12:59pm – East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a report of a 28-year-old female subject with a knife on the caller's porch. The subject and victim had been engaged in a verbal argument about a male subject. The subject went to the victim's home and started to bang on the door asking them to come outside. The caller/victim saw that the subject was armed with a knife and did not open the door. The subject was not on scene when officers arrived. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who remains at-large. *Subject located/arrested.
- 2:25pm – Central – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject was contacted and transported to a local hospital. The subject sought voluntary services and officers disengaged.
- 2:53pm – North – Check Person: Officers responded to a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject had attempted to harm themselves with a knife. The subject also attempted to run into traffic. The subject was contacted and transported to a local hospital where they agreed to accept services. Officers disengaged.
- 3:48pm – Central – Non-Residential Burglary: Officers responded to a non-residential burglary (construction site). The subject (62-year-old male) was identified on video surveillance. The subject hopped a construction fence and stole a hammer. The subject then used the hammer to break a window of a vehicle. The subject was located and arrested for burglary to building/dwelling and criminal damage to property.
- 5:24pm – East – Check Person: CARES responded to a check person request. The subject was found to have a Chapter 51 return. Officers met CARES and the subject at a local hospital. Placement/transport pending.
- 7:20pm – West – Weapons Offense: Officers responded to the 1100 block of Moraine View Drive for a report of 4-5 male youths in the hallway with handguns and faces covered. Building cleared. The youth were not located. Video obtained/reviewed. Investigation continuing.
- 9:53pm – North – Missing/Runaway Juvenile: A 13-year-old female subject was reported as a runaway. Attempt to locate aired. The juvenile was listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases.
- 11:04pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 27-year-old male subject. The subject and victim were involved in a verbal argument that turned physical. The subject took the victim's phone and destroyed it. The subject was arrested for intimidation of a victim, battery, disorderly conduct, and misdemeanor bail jumping (3 counts).
- 11:08pm – West – Check Person: A group home advised they received a call from one of their residents that that they did not feel safe. The resident reported that they had been choked and touched inappropriately by a subject they met up with. The resident and the subject were both contacted. No charges developed at this time. Investigation continuing.
- 11:24pm – North – Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 35-year-old male subject. The caller reported that the subject put their hands on them, refused to leave the premises, forced their way into the residence, and assaulted them. The subject was arrested for burglary, battery, disorderly conduct, and misdemeanor bail jumping.
- 11:48pm – South – Missing/Runaway Juvenile: A 13-yar-old male subject was reported as a runaway. Attempt to locate aired. The juvenile was listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases.
Tuesday, June 9:
- 4:13am – South – Check Person: An officer observed a 35-year-old male subject with his vehicle door wide open, covered in vomit, and passed out in the passenger seat of a vehicle. The subject was checked on. The subject was in possession of 2 concealed firearms. Cocaine was observed in plain view. The subject was arrested for going armed while intoxicated and possession of cocaine.
