The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on March 17 to 6:00am on March 18, we received 441 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 84

  • South: 46
  • West: 56
  • Other: 12

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Tuesday, March 17:

  • 7:57am – East – Adult Arrested Person: DOC requested that MPD locate/arrest their client (34-year-old male) for violating the terms of his supervision. The subject was located, arrested, and transported to jail.  
  • 8:26am – West – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded, along with EMS, to a subject (42-yaer-old male) passed out.  Naloxone administered. The subject is on probation/parole. The subject was arrested on a probation/parole hold and transported to jail.  
  • 11:21am – South – Traffic Arrest: A traffic stop was conducted. A K9 alerted on the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded drug paraphernalia. The driver/subject (29-year-old female) was arrested on a warrant. Cocaine was located on the subject during the jail booking process. The subject was charged with possession of cocaine.
  • 11:44am – West – Disturbance: Officers responded to the Dollar Tree on E. Washington Ave for a disturbance. The subject was not on scene when officers arrived. The subject threatened staff with a hammer. Investigation continuing.
  • 12:05pm – North – Crash: Officers responded to a single vehicle crash (Green Ave/Pine View Dr). The driver (only occupant) was located unresponsive and transported to a local hospital. Investigation continuing.
  • 2:29pm – Central – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (62-year-old female) at the YWCA. The decedent had a history of medical/health concerns. Medical Examiner’s office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
  • 3:33pm – West – Disturbance: Officers were notified about a potential attempted stabbing that occurred in the building (Beacon). A stabbing did not take place. A 48-year-old male subject was causing a disturbance, physically assaulted another subject, and was in possession of metal chopsticks. The subject was not cooperative with officers. The subject was arrested. The subject attempted to bite a deputy at the jail. Charges – disorderly conduct while armed (2 counts) and threats to law enforcement (2 counts).
  • 6:16pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: A 57-year-old male subject had a stalking letter issued to him recently. He continued to reach out to the victim. The subject was arrested for stalking.
  • 9:55pm – Midtown – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 21-year-old female subject. The subject strangled, pushed, and scratched the victim. The subject took the victim’s phone. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, domestic battery, domestic strangulation, and intimidation of a victim.

Wednesday, March 18:

  • 4:42am – East – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence for a pulseless non-breathing subject (51-year-old male). The decedent had a history of health/medical concerns. Medical Examiner’s office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
