The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on May 13 to 6:00am on May 14, we received 428 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 75
  • East: 110
  • Midtown: 58  
  • North: 73
  • South: 43
  • West: 59
  • Other: 10

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Wednesday, May 13:

  • 12:18am – Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to an active disturbance with a gun mentioned to be involved in the 400 block of W. Gilman St.  Numerous subjects detained. Video evidence reviewed. Two subjects fled the area but were located/detained. A 40-year-old male subject resisted officers. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, battery, resisting, and a probation hold. A 56-year-old male subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, battery, threats to law enforcement, and bail jumping. 
  • 8:51am – Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to the 200 block of State Street for a disturbance. A subject was observed throwing rocks at a moving vehicle. A victim motioned to the subject to stop throwing rocks. The subject confronted the victim and punched them several times. Subject was not on scene when officers arrived. 
  • 10:49am – Central – Assist MFD: Officers responded, along with MFD, to a report of a construction worker falling. MPD assisted with traffic control. The subject was conveyed to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 
  • 12:25pm – Midtown – Check Person:  Officers responded to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. The subject was contacted and placed into protective custody. The subject was transported to a local hospital where they agreed to accept services. Officers disengaged.
  • 12:36pm – Central – Residential Burglary: Officers responded to a report of a residential burglary. Still images of the subject (47-year-old male) was obtained from the property management company. Subject was identified. Subject stole a backpack containing the victim's wallet and airpods. Probable cause developed to arrest the subject. Subject is at-large.
  • 12:50pm – North – Mental Health Conveyance: Officers responded to a residence for a subject who threatened a contractor with a hammer. The subject was transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. An emergency detention was sought/approved. Placement pending.
  • 3:25pm – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Vehicle observed that was a recent contact reference a drug investigation. Traffic stop initiated. THC products observed in the vehicle. A passenger (20-year-old male) was in possession of a machete. The passenger was arrested for possession of THC, carrying a concealed weapon, and felony bail jumping.
  • 4:15pm – South – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 32-year-old female subject. The subject and victim engaged in a verbal argument. As the victim was driving away the subject broke the rear windshield of the vehicle. Probable cause developed to arrest/charge the subject. Subject is at-large.
  • 8:10pm – Midtown – Theft: Officers responded to Target due to the presence of a 24-year-old male subject who is banned from the store due to previous thefts. The subject was contacted and found to be concealing merchandise. The subject was arrested for trespassing, theft, and bail jumping.
  • 10:30pm – Central – Disturbance:  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 24-year-old female subject. An argument took place over a bag of chips that escalated when the subject pushed the victim's head into a wall. The subject was armed with a taser type device which is a violation of their bail conditions. The subject was arrested for physical abuse of a child, possession of an electronic device, and bail jumping.

Thursday, May 14:

1:44am – East – Adult Arrested Person: Caller/victim was walking on the bike path near Cottage Grove Rd/S. Stoughton Rd when a 21-year-old male subject made advances towards them (asked for a hug/tried to touch the victim). The subject continued to follow the victim. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct.
