The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on November 27 to 6:00am on November 28, we received 234 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 39
  • East: 50
  • Midtown: 38
  • North: 49
  • South: 21
  • West: 35
  • Other: 1

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Thursday, November 27:

Priority calls only from 2:58pm to 6:30pm due to calls for service/staffing available.

  • 5:20am – Midtown – Disturbance: Officers responded to a hotel for a 42-year-old male suspect wandering the hotel with a knife in their hand and knocking things over in the breakfast area. The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct. The suspect actively resisted and was also charged with resisting. The suspect spit at a deputy at the jail. Additional charges forthcoming from DCSO.
  • 8:47am – Midtown – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance at Starbucks on University Ave. A 30-year-old male suspect called another patron a name. Another patron attempted to intervene to stop the verbal altercation. Two subjects ended up outside the Starbucks with the suspect where a physical altercation took place. The suspect punched one of the subjects in the face. The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct (2 counts). 
  • 9:11am – North – Sexual Assault: A 31-year-old male suspect entered a park’s restroom and sexually assaulted a staff employee. The suspect was arrested for 4th degree sexual assault and possession of meth. 
  • 11:53am – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 29-year-old male suspect. Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect, who fled out a second-floor window as officers were arriving. Suspect remains at-large. 
  • 1:09pm – West – Battery: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 32-year-old male suspect. The victim reported being strangled by the suspect. The suspect was not on scene when officers arrived. Probable cause developed to arrest the suspect, who remains at-large. 
  • 2:56pm – North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance at a residence. A 65-year-old male suspect initially let officers into the building but then tried to slip back into the target apartment and was detained. Several subjects were in the apartment. A 52-year-old male suspect fled on foot and barricaded himself in a room. The suspect continued to not cooperate with officers. A less lethal round was deployed as well as a taser. The suspect was eventually taken into custody and transported to jail on multiple warrants and outstanding probable cause for 2 counts of retail theft. The 65-year-old male suspect was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct while armed. 
  • 4:28pm – North – Adult Arrested Person: A wanted 33-year-old male suspect was taken into custody and conveyed to jail. 
  • 6:12pm – Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 63-year-old male suspect and a 31-year-old male subject. The subject sustained visible injuries which required stitches. The suspect was arrested for substantial battery and a probation hold. The subject was also booked into jail on a probation hold.   
  • 6:18pm – Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a local hospital for a 64-year-old male suspect who punched a hospital staff member. The suspect was arrested for battery to a healthcare worker. 
  • 11:56pm – Central – Traffic Arrest: A traffic stop was conducted. The 31-year-old male driver/suspect was not cooperative with officers. The suspect was arrested for resisting, carrying a concealed weapon, and issued citations for red signal violation and open intoxicants.

Friday, November 28:

  • 12:34am – North – Check Area: Officers responded to Cherokee Marsh for sounds of gunfire. Areas checked. Investigation continuing.
  • 1:07am – North – Stolen Auto: A vehicle from a residential driveway was reported missing. The vehicle was located/recovered.
  • 1:44am – Central – Intoxicated Driver: A traffic stop was conducted. The driver (34-year-old male) was found to be impaired. The suspect was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (2nd offense), felon carrying a concealed weapon, and a probation hold. A 22-year-old female passenger was found to have cocaine in her possession.  She was arrested and transported to jail.
