The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 72 hours (Friday morning to Monday morning).

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on November 7 to 6:00am on November 10 we received 1,090 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Other: 29

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Friday, November 7:

Priority calls only from 8:09pm to 8am due to calls for service/resources available/staffing available.

  • 2:57am – Central – Disturbance: An officer heard yelling and made contact with a 21-year-old male subject. Another subject was contacted nearby and they had injuries to their face. A disturbance was found to have occurred between the two subjects. The subject tried to walk away from officers but he was detained. The victim was heavily intoxicated and could not recall what happened. The victim refused medical care and was taken into protective custody due to their intoxication level. The victim was transported to a local hospital for an evaluation/treatment. The subject was arrested and while en-route to the jail he intentionally slammed his face into the squad. He was taken to the hospital for a medical clearance. The subject threatened officers. The subject was arrested for substantial battery, threats to law enforcement, resisting, possession of cocaine, misdemeanor bail jumping, and a probation/parole hold.  
  • 5:01am – North – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a clinic for a 23-year-old male subject refusing to leave the premises. Officers arrived on scene and the subject agreed to leave.  Officers remained in the area and observed the subject return to the property. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and misdemeanor bail jumping (2 counts).
  • 8:32am - Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a local hospital for a report of a patient (31-year-old male) who was believed to have faked mental illness and a drug overdose in order to be admitted to the hospital. It was also reported that the subject went into the room of a female patient and flashed himself to her. The subject was determined to have outstanding warrants. The subject was booked into jail on the outstanding warrants. No other charges substantiated at this time.
  • 10:53am - West – Check Area: Officers responded to Kessel Court or a report of shots fired. Broken glass and several cartridge casings were located. Approximately 22 minutes later officers received information about a victim who had been shot during a robbery attempt. The victim sustained a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The victim reported that they went to Kessel Court to purchase an item for sale that was advertised online. The victim was shot during the transaction. The victim’s vehicle was damaged by gunfire. Investigation continuing.
  • 11:53am – Central – Missing Adult: A 69-year-old male subject was reported as missing (not heard from by family members since July). Attempt to locate aired. Areas checked. The subject was listed as missing in the appropriate databases.
  • 2:09pm - East – Adult Arrested Person: A 33-year-old female subject, with outstanding probable cause for their arrest, was observed by an officer. The subject was contacted, taken into custody, and transported to jail on the outstanding probable cause and an outstanding warrant.
  • 5:49pm - East – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to an incident involving a 34-year-old male subject with a bat. The subject was upset with the victim’s son over a female they were both interested in. The subject went to the victim’s home and hit the victim’s vehicle with a bat, shattering the windshield. The subject was not on scene when officers arrived. The subject was contacted by officers and he agreed to turn himself in. The subject was booked into jail for criminal damage to property. He was also issued a stalking letter.
  • 7:51pm - Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject at a local hospital. It was reported that a 32-year-old male subject was causing issues and would not stay in his room. The subject was heavily intoxicated. Officers arrived on scene and placed the subject into protective custody. The subject was not cooperative with officers and actively resisted them. The subject was arrested and transported to jail on a resisting charge.

Saturday, November 8:                                                              

Priority calls only from 5:16pm to 6:18pm due to calls for service/resources available/staffing available.

  • 1:28am – West – Crash: Officers responded to a rollover crash. The driver (39-year-old male) was operating his vehicle at a high rate of speed (Cross Country Rd/Stonebridge). The driver/vehicle struck a curb and went off the roadway which then caused the vehicle to roll a significant distance. The driver and all 3 passengers were ejected from the vehicle. The driver was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The 3 passengers died on scene. The driver is being investigated as being under the influence. Investigation continuing.
  • 5:58am - East – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a possible suicidal subject. Attempts were made to contact the subject but they were not successful. The subject was listed as missing/endangered in the appropriate databases.
  • 8:22am - North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers received information about a disturbance between two subjects. It was reported that the victim fled their residence after being struck by a belt by a 35-year-old male subject. It was also reported that the subject threatened the life of the victim. The victim had visible injuries. The subject left the residence. Attempts were made to locate the subject, without success.  Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who remains at-large.
  • 9:01am – South – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a report of property damage that occurred overnight involving a 45-year-old female subject. The subject showed up at a residence (that she is currently being evicted from) and damaged the front door, a fire pit, and a window screen. Another resident in the home observed the subject causing the damage. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and domestic criminal damage to property.
  • 10am - East – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to the mall for a 42-year-old female subject trespassing and refusing to leave the premises. The subject was arrested for unlawful trespassing after notification and possession of meth.
  • 3:40pm - North – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 26-year-old female subject. The subject became upset during a verbal argument and punched the victim’s TV causing it to break. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct and domestic criminal damage to property. The subject also had outstanding probable cause for theft. Child Protective Services placed the children with a family member.
  • 4:45pm - East – Check Area: Officers responded to the 5000 block of E. Buckeye Rd for a report of two people shooting guns at one another. One fired cartridge was located by officers. Areas canvassed. No subjects located. No reported injuries or property damage at this time. Video footage viewed showing a male subject manipulating a handgun. Investigation continuing.
  • 5:11pm - Central – Intoxicated Driver: Officers responded to a rollover crash. Officers arrived on scene and observed the driver/subject (47-year-old male) staggering around. The driver/vehicle struck a parked vehicle causing it to roll onto its side. Field sobriety tests were administered. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (2nd offense).
  • 7:16pm - Midtown – Check Person: A suicidal subject drove their vehicle off the Beltline into a grassy ditch. Local mental health resources plugged in. Safety planning put into place. The subject was released to a friend.
  • 11:36pm - East – Disturbance: Officers responded to an incident between acquaintances.  A 49-year-old male subject physically assaulted 2 victims. The subject was arrested for battery (2 counts). Additional follow-up needed as other charges may be forthcoming.

Sunday, November 9:

Priority calls only from 5:59pm to 7:54pm due to calls for service.

  • 12:14am - North – Intoxicated Driver: Officers responded to a single rollover crash (N. Stoughton Rd/Rieder Rd). The driver/subject (47-year-old male) had a revoked license due to operating a vehicle under the influence. The subject refused field sobriety testing. The subject was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (2nd offense).
  • 1:48am - East – Check Area: Caller reported observing two subjects in a parking lot where a gun was displayed. Officers responded to the area and no one was present.
  • 4:40am - West – Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for an intoxicated subject (25-year-old male subject/family member) refusing to leave the home when asked to. Contact was made with the subject who refused to leave or communicate with officers. The homeowner told the subject he was not welcome anymore today. The subject put a shoulder into the resident/victim as he tried to push back into the residence. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting.
  • 5:04am - East – Recovered Stolen Auto: Registered owner located their stolen vehicle on S. Whitney Way. The vehicle had been stolen the night before from a parking lot. The vehicle had been left unlocked and had the keys in it. A suspect (66-year-old female) was identified by the victim. The suspect was contacted and ultimately arrested for operating a motor vehicle without consent.
  • 6:05am - North – Adult Arrested Person: Officers were flagged down by a 38-year-old female subject who asked for a ride. The subject provided false identification to officers numerous times. The subject was identified and found to have an outstanding warrant. The subject resisted officers when they went to take her into custody. The subject was arrested for the outstanding warrant.  She was issued a citation for resisting/obstructing.
  • 10:54am - North – Domestic Disturbance: A victim reported that their ex (32-year-old male) threatened to find and kill them. Address for the subject was checked without success.  Probable cause developed to arrest the subject, who remains at-large.   
  • 12:37pm - East – Check Area: An officer on proactive patrol came into contact with several subjects in an encampment area (High Crossing Blvd/Annamark Dr). The officer educated them about trash, needles, etc. A 40-year-old male subject provided false identification to the officer and was ultimately found to have an outstanding warrant once positively identified. The subject was arrested for the outstanding warrant, obstructing, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • 5:59pm - North – Crash: Officers responded to a rollover crash (N. Third St/Pennsylvania Av). The driver/subject (29-year-old male) hit a curb, struck a tree, and rolled the vehicle. A witness stated there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from the driver. The subject was not cooperative with officers and refused to speak. The subject was transported to a local hospital for a blood draw (warrant obtained). The driver was subsequently arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence (1st).  The driver was also issued numerous traffic citations. Video shows the driver driving at a high rate of speed prior to the crash.
  • 6:32pm - East – Runaway Juvenile: A 14-year-old female subject was reported as a runaway. The juvenile has a history of running away. Attempt to locate aired. The juvenile as listed as missing/runaway in the appropriate databases.
  • 7:34pm - Midtown – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance between two subjects. A 19-year-old female subject threatened the life of another subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
  • 8:27pm - Midtown – Check Person: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance. Contact was made with two subjects initially. One of the subjects was uncooperative with officers and refused to exit the home. This subject was detained. Officers made entry to the home to check the welfare of other subjects. Officers came into contact with a male subject who was uncooperative. Several other subjects were located and interviewed. Investigation found that a verbal argument took place between parents and one of their children. During the argument the child/minor make suicidal statements. The minor was transported to a local hospital. The minor sustained minor injuries (self-inflicted). Local mental health resources plugged in. Safety plan developed. The minor was eventually released to go back home with their parents. Officers disengaged.  
  • 11:05pm - East – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (73-year-old male). Lifesaving measures attempted but not successful. Medical Examiner’s office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.

Monday, November 10:

  • 1:08am - North – Traffic Stop: A traffic stop was conducted. The driver/subject (41-year-old male) talked with the officer for approximately 1 minute and then took off. MPD does not pursue the vehicle. Another law enforcement agency picked up the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. Tire deflation devices were deployed and were successful. The vehicle came to a stop. The driver and passengers fled on foot. The driver/subject was detained. There were drugs and cash located in the vehicle. Maple Bluff PD took primary on this investigation and handled the arrest/evidence.
  • 1:19am - East – Adult Arrested Person: A driver/subject (39-year-old male) eluded both Sun Prairie PD and MPD. Another law enforcement agency engaged with the driver and deployed tire deflation devices which was successful. The driver was taken into custody and charged with numerous counts of eluding/failure to stop and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.
  • 4:01am - Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject. The caller advised they gave 5 doses of naloxone to the subject. The caller attempted to leave the area when officers arrived on scene. The caller/subject was detained. The subject was uncooperative with officers. The subject was determined to have an outstanding warrant. The subject was arrested for the outstanding warrant, possession of fentanyl, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing, and resisting. The subject who experienced a drug overdose was revived and transported to a local hospital.
