The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.
Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.
Number of calls
From 6:00am on October 1 to 6:00am on October 2, we received 437 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.
A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:
- Central: 87
- East: 106
- Midtown: 70
- North: 69
- South: 36
- West: 62
- Other: 7
"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the city. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.
Notable calls
Thursday, October 1:
Priority calls only from 1:40pm to 3:25pm, and from 8:25pm to 12:38am due to calls for service.
- 6:16am - East – Residential Burglary: A victim reported someone entered her home through an unlocked interior garage door, stole items from inside the residence and stole a vehicle parked in the driveway. The vehicle was listed as stolen and an ATL was aired. Investigation continuing.
- 6:27am - West – Residential Burglary: A caller to dispatch reported that a vehicle was in the garage of a vacant home and someone was inside the home. Officers determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen. Officers located the 34-year-old female suspect inside an adjacent home with a plethora of stolen property including packages. The suspect was arrested and charged with two counts of burglary, damage to property and OMVWOC. Investigation continuing.
- 6:49am - East – Damage to Property: A home builder reported that the 20-year-old male suspect, a subcontractor, had damaged wiring in the home. The suspect was arrested and charged with damage to property.
- 10:44am - North – Traffic Crash: Officers responded to the intersection of Packers Ave and Schlimgen Ave where the 65-year-old male suspect/driver struck a pedestrian. The suspect was cited for failure to yield to pedestrian in crosswalk.
- 12:38pm - Midtown – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a residence where a 77-year-old male was found deceased. Nothing suspicious on scene.
- 1:49pm - East – Weapons Offense: Officers responded to a high school where a student reported seeing the handle of a firearm in the 16-year-old male suspect's waistband. Officers responded to the suspect's home and during a consensual search located an Orbeez gun. No charges were substantiated.
- 2:57pm - Central – Check Person: Officers made contact with a man who has generated many calls for service recently due to declining mental health. Officers consulted with Journey Mental Health and placed the man into protective custody.
- 4:35pm - North – Disturbance: Officers responded to the 1900 block of E Washington Ave where the 69-year-old male suspect was jumping into traffic and later arguing with someone at a bus station. Officers took the man into custody and consulted with Journey Mental Health who wished to do an evaluation. Officers developed probable cause to charge the suspect with disorderly conduct, resisting and threats to LE.
- 5:25pm - East – Weapons Offense Shots Fired: Officers investigated an incident that resulted in a 16-year-old male arriving at a hospital with gunshot wounds to his feet. Investigation continuing.
- 7:22pm - South – Runaway Juvenile: A mother reported that her 13-year-old son had run away. The juvenile was listed as missing and an ATL was aired.
