The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 24 hours.

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on September 24 to 6:00am on September 25, we received 440 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

  • Central: 96
  • East: 91
  • Midtown: 73
  • North: 77
  • South: 38
  • West: 57
  • Other: 8

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the city. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Thursday, September 24:

Priority calls only from 12:38pm to 12:50pm, 1:25pm to 5:42pm, 6:42pm to 8:34pm and 11:35pm to 2:46am due to calls for service.

  • 8:50am - West – Check Person: An apartment manager requested that police check the welfare of a resident. Officers made contact and determined that the woman was fine and did not need police or EMS.
  • 12:36pm - North – Disturbance: Officers responded to the 2200 block of E Johnson St for a report of a large fight. Officers developed probable cause to arrest a 17-year-old male suspect with physical abuse of a child. Suspect is at large.
  • 1:12pm - East – Hit and Run Crash: A vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed struck and killed a construction worker on Pflaum Rd near Alder Rd. The 17-year-old male driver left the scene but was later arrested. Charges were still pending at the time of this writing. 
  • 3:20pm - North – Sexual Assault of a Child: A juvenile victim reported that a 22-year-old male and 21-year-old female sexually assaulted her. Officers contacted CPS. Investigation continuing.
  • 4:09pm - West – OMVWI: Officers responded to West Towne Mall where the 20-year-old female suspect drove over a curb and hit a tree. The suspect performed poorly on the SFST and was arrested for OWI 1st and resisting arrest.
  • 4:57pm - East – Theft: Officers responded to a business where the 36-year-old male suspect pretended to have a gun and attempted to rob the clerk. The suspect was arrested and charged with attempted theft, disorderly conduct and resisting.
  • 10:18pm - Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to the Salvation Army where the 39-year-old female suspect was yelling at staff and throwing things. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting.
  • 11:20pm - Central – Disturbance: Officers responded to the 600 block of University Ave where the 43-year-old male suspect was threatening people on the other side of a fence with a knife. The suspect was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct while armed and resisting. 

Friday, September 25:

  • 12:33am - North – Disturbance: Officers responded to a restaurant where the 31-year-old male suspect threatened to discharge a firearm during an argument. The suspect was arrested for disorderly conduct.
