The information provided below is about some of the calls officers responded to over the last 96 hours (Friday morning to Tuesday morning).

Most narratives represent early and preliminary information that was gathered from those in the field who were actively working the cases. In many instances, facts and circumstances, even the type of crime listed, can change as the investigation unfolds.

Number of calls

From 6:00am on September 4 to 6:00am on September 8 we received 1,609 calls for service. This number does not include parking complaints or 911 misdials.

A breakdown of the calls for service per district is as follows:

"Other" is used for calls that either do not have a sector or the sector is not in the City. This would be used in the case of one of our officers assisting another law enforcement agency.

Notable calls

Friday, September 4:

Priority calls only from 2:16pm to 11:47pm due to calls for service. 

• 5:50am – East – Disturbance: Officers responded to a business for a 56-year-old male subject who was looking into vehicles in the parking lot. Security at the business made contact with the subject. The subject began yelling at security and got into a fighting stance. The subject got into the face of a security guard. The subject was contacted by officers and arrested for disorderly conduct and misdemeanor bail jumping.
• 8:10am – West – Disturbance: Officers responded to a report of a client being disruptive and yelling at staff (group home/facility). Officers were able to deescalate the situation and disengage.
• 8:56am – South – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance involving a 32-year-old male subject. The subject got into a verbal and physical altercation with a family member. The subject bit the family member. The subject also punched the family member in the face and put their hands around their neck. The subject threw the family member down a flight of stairs. The subject was arrested for 2nd degree reckless endangering safety, domestic strangulation, domestic battery, domestic disorderly conduct, and disorderly conduct.
• 9:35am – North – Check Person: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject. Officers responded to the residence and were able to make verbal contact with the subject in the residence. The subject was in need of medical assistance. EMS responded. The subject was transported to a local hospital.
• 12:36pm – East – Missing Adult:  A subject with bipolar, currently in a manic state, who made suicidal statements was reported as missing. Attempt to locate aired. Areas checked. The subject was located/contacted. The subject resisted officers. The subject spit at and bit an officer. The subject was transported to a local hospital for an emergency detention evaluation. Final outcome pending.
• 2:08pm – North – Weapons Offense: Officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired (4800 block of E. Washington Ave). More than a dozen rounds were recovered in a parking lot. A firearm was recovered. No injuries reported at this time. An 18-year-old male subject was arrested for 1st degree reckless endangering safety. A 21-year-old male subject was arrested on a probation hold. Investigation continuing.
• 4:09pm – Central – Disturbance:  Officers responded to a disturbance with a knife involved. Officers located the disturbance occurred under a bridge where an encampment was set up. Numerous subjects contacted. All were cooperative except for a 45-year-old male subject who would not comply with officer's commands. The subject paced back and forth yelling expletives at the officers. The subject threw a beer at an officer and took off on foot running through backyards. The knife that was mentioned had not been located at this time. The subject was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed, resisting, and throwing stones/missiles. Knife not located/recovered.
• 9:36pm – Midtown – Disturbance:  Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 52-year-old female subject. The subject was in a vehicle as a passenger with an acquaintance. The subject got out of the vehicle and when she tried to get back into the vehicle she was not allowed to. The subject smashed a window on the vehicle. The subject was arrested for criminal damage to property, felony bail jumping, and misdemeanor bail jumping (3 counts).
• 11:21pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: A 45-year-old male subject got into a random person's vehicle in a parking lot of a convenience store. The owner confronted the subject. The subject threw a bottle at the victim's vehicle causing damage to it. The subject was arrested for criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, felony bail jumping (2 counts), and misdemeanor bail jumping (2 counts).  

Saturday, September 5:

• 3:28am – Central – Disturbance:  A fight broke out on State/Gorham. While officers were detaining a subject, a 21-year-old male subject intervened and would not comply with officers' orders to back away. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting/obstructing, and a probation hold. A second subject (21-year-old male) also intervened as the other subject was being arrested. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting/obstructing.
• 7:53am – West – Drug Incident: Officers responded to a report of a subject having a drug overdose. Naloxone administered by those with the subject (not successful). EMS performed medical aid which brought the subject back. The subject was transported to a local hospital. Drugs/drug paraphernalia observed at the residence. A child was at the residence during this time. Child Protective Services notified. The subject was provided a referral to MARI and issued citations for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
• 11:18am – West – Death Investigation: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a 65-year-old male subject. Entry made to the residence where the subject was located deceased. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
• 11:31am – Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: A 43-year-old male subject was reported as being in the caller's backyard (without authorization). The subject has a history of going in the caller's backyard. The subject was contacted and arrested on a DOC warrant.
• 12pm – East – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance that took place the previous day involving a 41-year-old male subject. The subject punched and strangled the victim. The subject caused damage to the victim's residence. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, domestic battery, domestic strangulation, and criminal damage to property.
• 4:43pm – Midtown – Death Investigation:  Officers responded to a report of a deceased subject (90-year-old male). Nothing suspicious identified.  
• 5:24pm – North – Adult Arrested Person: A 29-year-old male subject was driving when they ran a red light which nearly caused a crash. A sergeant observed the incident and conducted a traffic stop. K9 responded and there was a positive alert on the vehicle. The subject was arrested for possession of fentanyl.
• 5:32pm – West – Mental Health Conveyance: Officers responded to a group home for a disturbance. A subject was taken into protective custody and transported to a local hospital. An emergency detention was sought/supported. The subject was subsequently transported to Winnebago.
• 8:01pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a business in the 2800 block of E. Washington Avenue for a report of a subject (23-year-old male) waving a gun around. The subject was contacted and found to be in possession of a firearm. The subject was intoxicated. The subject was arrested for going armed while intoxicated and disorderly conduct while armed.   
• 11:10pm – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to S. Blair Street for a report of an injured subject. Caller reported their son was cut was on the arm. Shortly after this call came in, another caller reported they had been sliced by someone (300 block of N. Brooks St). Dispatch reported hearing arguing in the background. 1 injured party (36-year-old male) was identified (not 2 separate subjects). The subject was not cooperative with officers. Limited details provided to officers. Officers placed the subject into protective custody as they refused EMS and were intoxicated/had significant injuries that needed medical care. The subject resisted officers and threatened officers. The subject was transported to a local hospital for a medical clearance. The subject was medically cleared and arrested/transported to jail for disorderly conduct (2 counts), resisting, and threats to law enforcement.

Sunday, September 6:

Priority calls only from 8:42am to 10:21am due to calls for service.

Priority calls only from 11:57am to 3:27pm due to calls for service. 

• 12:32am – East – Disturbance: Officers responded to the Dutch Mill Park and Ride for an active disturbance involving numerous subjects and a baseball bat. A handgun was also mentioned as being brandished. A 52-year-old male subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed and battery. A handgun was recovered.
• 1:01am – Central – Disturbance:  Officers responded to the 1200 block of Williamson Street for a report of a large fight involving over 100 people. Three arrests were made. Additional details not known at the time of this writing.
• 2:21am – Midtown – Injured Subject: A subject was dropped off at a local hospital with a gunshot wound. The victim was unable to provide a statement due to the seriousness of their injuries. Investigation continuing. *Investigation continued throughout the day. A 28-year-old male subject was identified as being involved in this incident. The subject was contacted and arrested for Attempted 1st Degree Intentional Homicide. 
• 2:29am – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to a disturbance that took place at a convenience store involving a 58-year-old male subject. The subject aggressed on a patron for unknown reasons and punched them in the face. The subject also pushed an elderly subject, who was no longer on scene when officers arrived. The subject was not cooperative with officers. The subject was arrested for battery, disorderly conduct, and resisting (2 counts). 
• 2:29am – Central – Fight Call: Officers observed a physical altercation take place involving numerous subjects in the 500 block of State Street. At least one arrest was made.  Additional details not known at the time of this writing.
• 4:04am – North – Check Area: Officers responded to the area of Forster Drive/Alpine Road regarding vehicles racing. It was also reported that shots were fired. Casings located/recovered. Investigation continuing.
• 4:17am – East – Check Area: Officers responded to a report of shots fired (High Crossing Blvd/Crossroads Drive). Areas checked. Investigation continuing.
• 7:18am – Midtown – Adult Arrested Person: Officers received a request from DOC to locate/arrest a client (56-year-old male) of theirs for violating the terms of their release. The subject was located, contacted, and arrested on a DOC warrant. The subject was transported to jail.
• 8:37am – West – Weapons Offense:  Officers responded to the parking lot of Menards for found casings. Casings recovered. Investigation continuing. 
• 10:46am – East – Theft: Officers respond to investigate a report of a dog being taken. A male subject was observed taking the dog and leaving the area in a vehicle (a week ago). The same vehicle was observed (without the dog). A license plate was obtained. Registered owner's photo shown to the witness who confirmed it was the same person that had their dog. Contact attempted with the registered owner, without success.  Probable cause developed to arrest the subject. Investigation continuing.
• 11:54am – West – Check Person: Officers received a request to locate a subject in need of a Chapter 51 return. The subject was located/contacted. The subject was taken into protective custody and transported to a local hospital. Medical clearance obtained. The subject was transported to another local facility for placement. Officers disengaged.
• 4:32pm – Central – Death Investigation: Officers responded to a report of a pulseless non-breathing subject (88-year-old male). Lifesaving measures were attempted, but they were not successful. Nothing suspicious identified.  
• 8:41pm – Central – Domestic Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance involving a 27-year-old male subject. The subject was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
• 10:27pm – Central – Disturbance:  Officers were alerted to a fight in the 500 block of State Street. Two subjects (20-year-old male and 23-year-old male) were cited for disorderly conduct. A 25-year-old male subject was arrested for disorderly conduct/battery (2 counts) and resisting (2 counts).

Monday, September 7:

Priority calls only from 12:32pm to 1:23pm due to calls for service. 

• 2:20am – Central – Adult Arrested Person: Officers responded to the 500 block of State Street for a 27-year-old male subject threatening people. The same subject was involved in a previous incident where they punched a passerby in the face. The subject was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct (with hate crime enhancer).
• 6:52am – Central – Mental Health Conveyance: A subject at a local hospital was in need of an emergency detention (sought/approved). The subject was subsequently transported to Winnebago for placement.
• 9:05am – North – Death Investigation:  Officers responded to a residence for a deceased subject (71-year-old female). Nothing suspicious identified.
• 9:38am – Central – Death Investigation: Officers received a request to check the welfare of a subject (70-year-old female). Entry was made to the residence where the subject was located deceased. Medical Examiner's office responded. Nothing suspicious identified.
• 12:06pm – West – Disturbance: Officers responded to a disturbance at a residence. Probable cause not developed for any charges. A subject was taken into protective custody and transported to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation. Final outcome pending. *Emergency detention sought/supported. The subject was transported to Winnebago for placement. 
• 4:27pm – East – Adult Arrested Person: Two subjects, with outstanding probable cause for their arrest, were located/arrested. A 23-year-old female subject was arrested for simple battery. A 48-year-old male subject was arrested for simple battery (party to a crime).
• 8:14pm – Central – Disturbance:  Officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving a 39-year-old female subject. The subject was screaming at staff (Salvation Army) and refusing to leave the premises. The subject threatened to fight officers when they arrived. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting, discharge of bodily fluids at public safety worker, and battery to law enforcement.
• 10:30pm – Central – Disturbance:  A 50-year-old male subject strangled and battered a victim for unknown reasons. The victim was knocked unconscious. The subject was arrested for strangulation and substantial battery.

Tuesday, September 8:

• 12:38am – Central – Disturbance:  Officers heard a disturbance and observed a 30-year-old male subject leaving the area on a skateboard. The subject was found to have been involved in an incident at a nearby business where they threatened to hit/harm staff. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct while armed, resisting, and felony bail jumping.
