Firearm recovered, driver arrested for OWI during traffic stop

A loaded handgun was found in plain view as officers responded to a traffic stop involving an impaired driver.
Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Williamson St. around 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
A witnesses reported seeing a driver pull into a parking lot and nearly strike a group of people. The vehicle hit a curb and popped a tire during the process.
The driver showed signs of impairment. He refused standard field sobriety tests, and a warrant was obtained for a legal blood draw.
A loaded gun was found in the vehicle. A photo of the recovered gun is pictured below.
Don E. Clark, 30, of Madison, was arrested for 2nd offense OWI, OAR, felon in possession of a firearm, being armed while intoxicated, bail jumping and possession of a stolen firearm.
He was booked into the Dane County Jail.
