Incident Details
The Madison Police Department is asking for the public's help to identify someone who passed over a fraudulent prescription for an opioid pain medication.
Officers were dispatched to the CVS Pharmacy located along the 6700 block of Mineral Point Road around 10:30 a.m. on September 25. Pharmacy staff reported a man had tried to get a fraudulent prescription filled the day before around 5:45 p.m. and that the prescription was from medical staff at a cancer care center in Illinois.
Staff reported the man became irritated when they would need a day to fill the prescription. Security video of his time at the store was shared with officers. A still frame from that video showing the suspect is pictured below.
Electronic prescription fraud is on the rise nationwide.
