Shots fired during online marketplace sale

A man, attempting to sell property through an online marketplace, had someone shoot at him Monday night.
Officers were dispatched to the area of Huxley and Roth Streets around 7:05 p.m. The victim had agreed to meet the suspect in this area to sell a phone. During their interaction, the suspect grabbed the device and ran away. He then pulled out a gun and fired twice when the victim chased him toward the 900 block of Huxley Street.
The victim was not injured in the shooting. Two shell casings were recovered. Drones, K-9 teams, and patrol officers searched the area for the suspect.
No arrests have been made as of Wednesday afternoon.
The Madison Police Department encourages people to buy and sell items in public places, such as police stations. Buyers and sellers should also consider bringing people with them during these transactions and to verify payment went through before leaving.
