Woman kicks, bites officer during response to disturbance

A woman bit and kicked an officer as she was being medically cleared at a hospital Wednesday night.

Officers were initially dispatched to the 200 block of State Street for a woman causing a disturbance and trying to fight with someone.

She was arrested and taken to the Dane County Jail, where she shared she wasn't feeling well.

At the hospital, she continued to cause a disturbance and then kicked and bit an officer and spit at another one.

After being medically cleared, Carmella S. Smith, 20, was arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, battery to law enforcement, discharging bodily fluid on a public safety worker. She also had a warrant for her arrest.

This remains an ongoing investigation.
