Tree Emergencies

If you have a tree emergency, contact 911.

Do not send an email. Do not send in a report-a-problem.

For an emergency situation, call 911 for an emergency response. 

  • You can also call 608-255-2345 to reach Dane County Dispatch.

Dane County dispatch operators will contact our on-call staff so they can respond as needed to emergency calls.

What is a "tree emergency" for Urban Forestry?

If a tree or large limb falls and blocks the entire drive lane of a road, or if a public tree falls onto a house, or other similar situations presenting a obvious immediate danger are tree emergencies.

  • Night scene. A large tree has fallen over and is blocking the road.
  • Tree limb down blocking entire drive lane in winter
  • Night scene. A tree lying in the road & utility pole broken.
  • Daytime scene. Tree toppled over into road and peeled up roots, too.
