Meetings

  • Plan Commission: The Plan Commission meeting will take place on Monday, October 30, 2023, in virtual format at 5:30 PM. Agenda items include development related requests in Districts 1, 6, 11, 13, 17, and 19, as well as the secretary's report on recent Common Council items and upcoming matters.
  • Public Information Sessions on Budget:  City Finance staff will provide background information on the city's capital and operating budget process, including highlights of the 2024 executive budget. Virtual community sessions on the 2024 budget will be held on Monday, October 30, 2023, and Wednesday, November 1, 2023. Both meetings will start at 5:30 PM and end at 6:30 PM. These meetings will cover the same content and will be recorded. This is a great opportunity for residents to learn more about our city's budget. Electronic copies of budget information can be found at https://www.cityofmadison.com/finance/budget/2024-budget. The city's budget for 2024 will be debated and adopted by the Common Council in November. Please register for the meetings using the links below. Registrants will be invited to participate in a question and answer session at the end of the meeting.
  • Homeless Services Consortium: The Homeless Services Consortium meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, in virtual format at 1:00 PM. Agenda items include a presentation of a draft memorandum of understanding with the Community Development Authority for Stability Vouchers, an update on the youth homelessness demonstration program, and a proposal to approve the signature of a letter to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.
  • Board of Health for Madison and Dane County: The Board of Health for Madison and Dane County meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 1, 2023, in person at the Atrium Community Room at 2300 S. Park St., Rooms A, B, and C at 5:30 PM. Agenda items include amending the 2023 operating budget to fund a feasibility study of establishing an overdose prevention facility in Dane County, authorizing the acceptance of funds from the National Association of County & City Health Officials to support the evaluation of harm reduction strategies, and authorizing the acceptance of funds from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services for communicable disease control and prevention.
  • Public Market Development Committee: The Public Market Development Committee meeting will take place on Thursday, November 2, 2023, in virtual format at 5:00 PM. Agenda items include updates on the public market project and the future role of the Public Market Development Committee.
  • Upcoming Metro Transit Meetings: Learn more about Metro's proposed second BRT line to run from the north side of Madison through the downtown area to Madison's Southside neighborhoods and ending in Fitchburg. North/South BRT Planning

  • It is Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month! Use this opportunity to take advantage of the Madison Fire Department's (MFD) FREE hands-only CPR/AED classes! MFD paramedics and EMTs will teach the basics of hands-only CPR, how to use an AED, and explain why it is important for bystanders to perform CPR until first responders arrive. Dane County is a leader in the nation for sudden cardiac arrest survival, and it's thanks in part to people stepping in to help someone in need of CPR! MFD has two classes coming up at Fire Station 1 (316 W. Dayton Street):
  • Yoga Core - Tuesday, October 31, 2023Want to build your strength and increase body awareness? Yoga Core is a great way to do it! This class incorporates a wide variety of seated, standing, balancing, and mat-based yoga poses focusing on strength, stability, and mobility. Core-based practices can help enhance balance and stability and prevent falls and injuries as we age. All levels are welcome!
  • Dane County Farmers' Market - Wednesday, November 1, 2023The Wednesday Dane County Farmers' Market is located on the 200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, between the Madison Municipal Building and the City-County Building. While more intimate than the Saturday Market, you will still find many of your favorite Dane County Farmers' Market members, as well as a full array of fruits and vegetables, eggs, cheeses, honey, maple syrup, bakery items, cut flowers, plants, and many specialty items.
  • Cyclocross Practice Ride ( Aldo Leopold Park) - Wednesday, November 1, 2023: We've partnered with Capital Off-Road Pathfinders to offer a free, temporary cyclocross course to practice your biking skills. Each event is open from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the designated location. You will need a bike with knobby tires, such as a mountain bike style, and a good-fitting helmet. Some parks do not have restrooms; please plan accordingly. Cyclocross is a form of bicycle racing similar to cross-country running but on a bicycle. Courses feature wooded trails, grass, pavement, steep hills, and obstacles. See Cyclocross for more information.
  • Meditation at Monona Terrace - Thursday, November 2, 2023: Meditation can give you a sense of calm, peace, and balance that benefits your emotional well-being and overall health. Anyone can practice; it's simple, inexpensive, and requires no special equipment. Join us virtually every Thursday, September 7 - December 14 at 12:00 PM for this free 45-minute program welcome to all levels. You will need to register for the Zoom webinar.

  • Sauk Creek Corridor Plan Information Meetings: Join the City in coming up with a plan for this stormwater corridor that can best serve the community! 
    • In-person: Monday, November 6, from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Vel Phillips Memorial High School, Wisconsin Neighborhood Center, 201 S Gammon Rd, Madison, WI 53717. Please register for this meeting at this link on EventBrite so we can make sure we have enough chairs and tables. There is no fee or ticket required to attend.
