Tomorrow's MMSD Meeting Discussion on Raemisch Farm Proposed Boundary Changes Between MMSD and the Deforest School District

Hi Neighbors,

Last summer, I started a joint effort with Alder Kemble to change the proposed boundary for the Raemisch Farm Parcel in District 12 and Cherokee Park Inc in District 18 from Deforest School District to MMSD.

We had several meetings with the MMSD staff and City Staff. MMSD and City Planning staff worked together to identify a parcel closer to DeForest that is a good deal for both districts to swap. On the MMSD meeting agenda item 7.2 it will be discussed. If approved, the Raemisch and Cherokee parcels will be added to the MMSD School District which will be a great win for our kids and the community.

Dear MMSD Board Members - 

It has been a hard year for all of us. 2020 saw us go through unprecedented strife and brought to light a lot of problems in our society and challenges for our city as well as our School Board. I have seen your hard work and dedication to solving complex issues, and I appreciate all your time for Madison's children and schools. 

The Raemisch Farm parcel is going through a major zoning change process and the proposed project will create over 400 housing units -- a mix of single family homes, town homes and multi-family housing. Raemisch Farm shares the boundary with Lake View School but the Raemisch Farm parcel is currently considered part of the Deforest School District. Residents and community leaders are fighting to bring Raemisch Farm and Cherokee Park Inc to the MMSD school district and overwhelmingly favor the swap of two large parcels.

Please vote in favor of agenda item 7.2 - the proposed boundary changes between MMSD and the Deforest School District. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to me. ?
