Judge Doyle Square Council Discussion

September 11, 2015 8:47 AM

Over the past several years the City of Madison has been actively working to redevelop the rear property at the Madison Municipal Building – commonly known as Judge Doyle Square "JDS". I fully support the concept of reuse of the site, a surface parking lot is not the best and ideal use for this land. However I am also aware the current proposal does have issues that to date have not been fully worked through.

The Council will be set to discuss the most recent version of a proposal for an office building and hotel on this site. This meeting is scheduled for September 23 at 7:15pm at the usual council meeting space, Rm 201 of the City County Building.

I encourage you to participate in these discussions by either attending the meeting and registering to speak or emailing Alders at:

However, since this is a special meeting of the Common Council, I will not be able to attend the meeting. By rules of the Council this will in essence be considered a "no" vote. Several other Alders will also not be in attendance that night.

I am disappointed that I will not be able to join the discussion as these are very complex decisions that I am sure will be deliberated fully by the Council and they will make a decision in the best interest of the City of Madison.
