• Plan Commission: The Plan Commission meeting will take place on Monday, October 30, in virtual format at 5:30 PM. Agenda items include development related requests in Districts 1, 6, 11, 13, 17, and 19, as well as the secretary’s report on recent Common Council items and upcoming matters.

• Homeless Services Consortium: The Homeless Services Consortium meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 1, in virtual format at 1:00 PM. Agenda items include a presentation of a draft memorandum of understanding with the Community Development Authority for Stability Vouchers, an update on the youth homelessness demonstration program, and a proposal to approve the signature of a letter to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.

• Board of Health for Madison and Dane County: The Board of Health for Madison and Dane County meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 1, in person at the Atrium Community Room at 2300 S. Park St., Rooms A, B, and C at 5:30 PM. Agenda items include amending the 2023 operating budget to fund a feasibility study of establishing an overdose prevention facility in Dane County, authorizing the acceptance of funds from the National Association of County & City Health Officials to support evaluation of harm reduction strategies, and authorizing the acceptance of funds from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services for communicable disease control and prevention.

• Public Market Development Committee: The Public Market Development Committee meeting will take place on Thursday, November 2, in virtual format at 5:00 PM. Agenda items include updates on the public market project and the future role of the Public Market Development Committee.

• ​​​​​​​Public Information Sessions on Budget -- 10/30 and 11/1: The city’s budget for 2024 will be debated and adopted by the Common Council in November. In addition to public comment opportunities at Council meetings, there will be two community sessions on the budget. City Finance staff will provide background information on the city’s capital and operating budget process, including highlights of the 2024 executive budget. This is a great opportunity for residents to learn more about our city’s budget. Electronic copies of budget information can be found at https://www.cityofmadison.com/finance/budget/2024-budget

Virtual community sessions on the 2024 budget will be held on Monday, October 30 and Wednesday, November 1. Both meetings will start at 5:30 PM and end at 6:30 PM. These meetings will cover the same content and will be recorded.

• Stormwater Utility Vegetation Management Plan Listening Sessions, Wednesday, November 1: Join the Stormwater Utility for a public listening session as part of development of the Stormwater Vegetation Management Plan. There are three opportunities to attend these listening sessions, with two in-person listening sessions and one online listening session.

These listening sessions are intended to solicit feedback on big picture questions regarding vegetation goals and maintenance on existing stormwater utility land. These sessions will be interactive, with live polling on big picture questions, image mapping, and opportunities to identify what is working well, in addition to hearing any concerns you might have.

• North-South BRT - Public Information Meeting (South Side), Wednesday, November 1: Learn more about Metro’s proposed second Bus Rapid Transit line to run from the north side of Madison through the downtown area, to Madison’s southside neighborhoods and ending in Fitchburg. 5:30pm – 7:30pm Urban League (2222 S. Park Street)
• North-South BRT - Public Information Meeting (North Side), Thursday, November 2: Learn more about Metro’s proposed second Bus Rapid Transit line to run from the north side of Madison through the downtown area, to Madison’s southside neighborhoods and ending in Fitchburg. 5:30pm – 7:30pm Warner Park Community Center (1625 Northport Dr.)
• Lowell Street Reconstruction, Thursday, November 2: The City is planning to reconstruct Lowell St from W Lakeside St to S Shore Dr. The project includes the replacement of sanitary sewer main and laterals, storm sewer main and laterals and replace the connection into the lake, curb and gutter replacement, driveway apron replacement, asphalt pavement, and pavement markings. A public information meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m., Nov. 2, 2023, via Zoom. Registration prior is required.

• Sauk Creek Corridor Plan Information Meetings: Join the City in coming up with a plan for this stormwater corridor that can best serve the community!

· Upcoming Public Meetings on Bus Rapid Transit in Madison: Community members are encouraged to attend a public meeting to learn more about the City of Madison's proposed second Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line to run from the city's north side, through the downtown area, to the south side neighborhoods, and ending in Fitchburg.

· Listening Sessions Scheduled for City’s First Stormwater Utility Vegetation Management Plan: MADISON, Wis.-- The City of Madison Engineering Division has a number of upcoming listening sessions scheduled to help inform and receive feedback from residents and the community regarding  the  new Stormwater Utility Vegetation Management Plan, a plan that will incorporate public input and technical expertise to inform vegetation goals and priorities.

• MPD participated in Downtown Madison's Halloween event on Wednesday and interacted with around 1,500 kids. We have several others trunk or treat or Halloween events. • It is Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month! Use the opportunity to take advantage of the Madison Fire Department’s FREE hands-only CPR/AED classes! In this class, Madison Fire Department paramedics and EMTs teach the basics of hands-only CPR, how to use an AED, and explain why it is important for bystanders to perform CPR until first responders arrive. Dane County is a leader in the nation for sudden cardiac arrest survival, and its thanks in part to people stepping in to help someone in need of CPR! MFD has two classes coming up at Fire Station 1 (316 W. Dayton Street):

If your organization has been formally recognized, it will be listed with a descriptive profile that neighbors, businesses, community based organizations, and educational institutions use to find out about your group. • Meditation at Monona Terrace, Thursday, September 7, 2023 - 12:00pm to Thursday, December 14, 2023 - 12:00pm: Meditation can give you a sense of calm, peace, and balance that benefits both your emotional well-being and your overall health. Anyone can practice; it is simple, inexpensive and does not require any special equipment. Join us virtually every Thursday, September 7 - December 14, for this free 45-minute program welcome to all levels. Advance registration for Zoom webinar is required.
• Yoga Core, Tuesday, October 31: Want to build your strength and increase body awareness? Yoga Core is great way to do it! This class incorporates a wide variety of seated, standing, balancing, and mat-based yoga poses focusing on strength, stability, and mobility. Core-based practices can help enhance balance and stability and prevent falls and injuries as we age. All levels are welcome!

• East Side Farmers' Market, Tuesday, October 31: The Eastside Farmers' Market is Madison Wisconsin’s finest weekday farmers' market. Our goal is to bring the freshest Wisconsin grown food direct to the heart of the East side. Our vendor members are agricultural producers and food artisans who make value added products from Wisconsin's agricultural bounty.
• Dane County Farmers' Market - Wednesday Market, Wednesday, October 31: The Wednesday Dane County Farmers’ Market is located on the 200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, in between the Madison Municipal Building and the City County Building. While more intimate than the Saturday Market, you will still find many of your favorite Dane County Farmers’ Market members, as well as a full array of fruits and vegetables, eggs, cheeses, honey, maple syrup, bakery items, cut flowers, plants, and many specialty items.
• Cyclocross Practice Ride | Aldo Leopold Park, Wednesday, November 1: We've partnered with Capital Off-Road Pathfinders in offering a free, temporary cyclocross course to practice your biking skills. Each event is open from 5-7pm at the designated location. You will need a bike with knobby tires, such as a mountain bike style and a good-fitting helmet. Some parks do not have restrooms, please plan accordingly. Cyclocross is a form of bicycle racing similar to cross country running but on a bicycle. Courses feature wooded trails, grass, pavement, steep hills, and obstacles. See Cyclocross for more information.

• Bird & Nature Adventures | Tenney Park, Saturday, November 4: Nature-expert guided walks in Tenney Park along Lake Mendota and the Yahara River Parkway bike path through the Madison Isthmus are free, family-friendly and held the first Saturday of each month, from 2:30-4pm. The walk begins at the Tenney Beach parking lot, 1330 Sherman Avenue. No registration is required. No pets are allowed. Co-sponsored by Madison FUN Friends of Urban Nature, Madison Parks, Madison Audubon Society , Tenney-Lapham Neighborhood Association and Friends of the Yahara River Parkway .
• Bird & Nature Adventures | Cherokee Marsh, North, Sunday, November 5: Cherokee Marsh is Madison’s largest conservation park with three units - North, South, and Mendota. Each month, year-round we explore the north unit's beautiful trails through the woodlands, wetlands, and restored prairies along the Yahara ‘Catfish’ River. Co-sponsored by Madison Parks, Friends of Cherokee Marsh , Sierra Club and Madison Audubon Society . Follow North Sherman Ave. to the parking lot at the end of the gravel entrance road. Free, family-friendly guided nature walks at Cherokee Marsh Conservation Park – North are held on the 1st Sunday of each month, year-round 1:30-3pm. No registration is required. No pets are allowed.
