  • Winter Storms and Extreme Cold: The best way to stay safe during extreme winter weather is to be prepared and stay indoors. Learn how to prepare for winter storms.

Boards, Commissions, and Committee Meetings

Note: This is not a complete list of meetings for this upcoming week. All meetings and their details can be found here.

  • Common Council: The Common Council meeting will take place on Tuesday, January 23, in hybrid format at 6:30 p.m. Agenda items include appointing and swearing in an alder to represent District 19, an honoring resolution celebrating Black History Month, and amending Madison General Ordinances related to Salaries of Officials to update salaries for alders.
  • Plan Commission: The Plan Commission meeting will take place on Monday, January 22, in virtual format at 5:30 p.m. Agenda items include development related requests in Districts 2, 4, 6, 12, 14, 16, and 19, as well as authorizing the City of Madison Planning Division to submit an application to the Capital Area Regional Planning Commission to expand the Central Urban Service Area to include properties located in the Reiner and the High Point-Raymond Neighborhood Development Plan areas.
  • Board of Public Works: The Board of Public Works meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 24, in virtual format at 4:30 p.m. Agenda items include updating the City’s policy for the assessment of sanitary sewer improvements to serve unsewered and sewered lands located within the current and future boundaries of the City of Madison, as well as approving plans and specifications and authorizing the Board of Public Works to advertise and receive bids for Country Grove Park Shelter and for the 2024 Rennebohm Park East Tennis Courts.

  • Northeast Area Plan - Art Workshop, Wednesday, January 24: In collaboration with the City Arts Administrator Kairn Wolf, the Northeast Area Planning (NEAP) team is hosting an upcoming art workshop on January 24, 6-8pm at the Fleet Service Facility located at 4151 Nakoosa Trail, Madison, WI 53714. The primary goal of the workshop is to gather feedback and insights regarding potential art projects within the NEAP area. Your participation would be instrumental in shaping the artistic vision of this community.

HEADS UP!

  • Habitat Stewardship Subcommittee on Tuesday, February 13: Madison Gas and Electric Company (MGE) will be performing line clearance tree pruning in your district this year. MGE’s 2024 plan for pruning trees on the public rights-of-ways will be considered by the Habitat Stewardship Subcommittee on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 4:30 P.M., via virtual meeting. If you wish to speak at the virtual meeting, you must register. You can register at www.cityofmadison.com/city-hall/committees/meeting-schedule. Registration will open when the meeting is published on the Calendar, typically around noon on the Friday preceding the meeting, in this instance Friday, February 9, 2024. Interested participants can search for the date, click on the Habitat Stewardship Subcommittee meeting, then click “Register for Public Comment.”

  • Bird & Nature Adventures | Edna Taylor, Saturday, January 27Join a naturalist for an easy family-friendly walk from Aldo Leopold Nature Center into beautiful Edna Taylor Conservation Park and enjoy a bit of nature education along the way. Walk will begin at the Aldo Leopold Nature Center, 330 Femrite Drive. Meet outside at the Children's Shack. Co-sponsored by Madison Parks, Badgerland Bird Alliance, and Aldo Leopold Nature Center . No registration is required. No pets are allowed.
  • Family Winter Prom, Saturday, January 27Celebrate the magic of winter at the Family Winter Prom! Join us for a night of frosty fun and create lasting memories with your loved ones. Enjoy music, dancing, crafts, and refreshments. Dress up and celebrate this special night!
